They could improve on all the below. - Have consist staffing day and night. - Have experienced team members overnight to address some of the resident sun downing issues. - Have a knowledgeable Director who knows how to solution and not make accusations to family members. - Do not steal new clothes provided to residents by family members. Pacifica Senior Living Oakland Heights has gone through significant staffing changes since the time that your relative lived at our community. A new Executive Director started this year and together with the Resident Director of Services have addressed issues related to the stability of care staff. New procedures and guidelines are in place so that residents and their families can feel safe in the knowledge that our care staff are appropriately trained and supervised.
Pacifica Senior Living Oakland Heights is a horrible place and I would never recommend the facility to anybody.

Our family had an in person tour and the tour was not very good from the start

The people who showed us around on the tour were very nice, but the facility was an awful setup. The rooms were tiny and too closed in. It was more expensive, yet it didn’t have all the amenities that the place we chose did. (The place we chose was like an entire studio apartment really, with a kitchen, laundry facilities, great bathroom and shower, and a bay window). The room at Pacifica felt like a closet. I did not like Pacifica Senior Living at all. It is not in a great neighborhood. The main building looked old and run down and the rooms were small. They have individual cottages but those were just old houses in the neighborhood. The appearance really turned me off of this facility.

When residents press the call button pendant, the caregivers come in and clear the button to show they responded, say they will be right back, but they never return. The director of nursing is an LPN not an RN. On my mother's last day at the community ,my mother asked for help to use the bathroom, , no one responded, she waited 5 hours, and after that they said" you know your mother is not the only resident here". We just moved our mother out of Pacifica (formally Salem Lutheran Home, a non-profit) due to clear lack of professionalism and oversight. She had been there for about eight years but since the purchase by Pacifica (a for-profit company) the level of care has dropped to a dangerous level. Many employees have a lot of heart and are trying to contend with this transition but the staff is a revolving door.
