Incompetent. I never like leaving bad reviews but over the years in working with Paychex, I wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with them in the way I had to. They were great when our company first hired them but something changed. We only have two full-time employees and every submission of payroll reporting has many errors. I'm not sure how that happens since nothing changes in the reporting--****** and ***** maybe? Trust me, you do not want the headache. If I could choose no star, I would.

Awful. Took all our 401k money, deleted our retirement accounts and will not allow employees access or tell us where the money went. Next step will be filing a complaint with the *** for misappropriation of funds. Do not use these guys.

They consistently fail to process payroll on the scheduled date. Not once or twice but more like 75% of the time. Weve contacted them numerous times and the friendly people assure us this will not happen again. And it does. I dont know if their legacy systems just arent capable of delivering a competent service in 2025 or if they just genuinely dont care. I do know that your employees care about getting paid on time every time.

Paychex has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. They are more expensive than most payroll companies and the customer service is extremely subpar. I used Paychex for numerous years for my small business and I had multiple problems to the point that they gave me discounts due to their own negligence. When I finally had enough and switched payroll companies, they are now trying to charge me $1500 to move my 401k to a different company, even though they know they've been negligent. They are not small business friendly. If you talk to a sales guy named **** run the other way. He will lie to close the deal but then you will get over charged for things you didnt sign up for. Stay away from this company. There are much better payroll companies out there!

Our experience with Paychex this year has been extremely disappointing. We were told back in June 2025 that Paychex would be tracking our employees sick hours, yet as we approach the end of the year, we discovered that no sick-time tracking has been maintained at all. After 10 years as a client of Paychex with relatively no issues, their service has deteriorated terribly. In the last few years, we have had numerous changes to payroll specialists, procedures, and 3 of our recent payrolls have been done in error causing bank errors and overdraft fees and endless hours of our time to correct. Disappointed and Disregarded Poor Communication and No Support Ive been a Paychex client for some time, and unfortunately, the experience has gone from frustrating to unacceptable. In the beginning, I could call and speak with any available agent, which helped when my assigned representative was unreachable. But over time, theyve removed that option entirely. We moved our Co payroll from ADP to Paychex 3rd Qtr 2024. Paychex has FAILED to file quarterly ***orts and now the *** is sending a Notice of Intent to ****. We have been assessed thousands of dollars in penalties because of this.
