When having our two dogs stay at Pender, we had them boarded each in their own dog condo. Within two days of pick up, one dog became very ill and the vet diagnosed kennel cough. Our second dog was symptomatic a couple days after that. I contacted Pender and at first received a generic response wishing us well and an empty offer for us to keep them updated. I brought my chihuahua here last month for a nail trim, pretty basic right? Wrong. My first indication should've been their phone going directly to a "voice mailbox full" message. I overlooked it and booked online through the website, clarifying during booking that I was bringing him just for a nail trim. I arrive for my appointment and call the main office number from my car like the email says to do. No answer. I got out and called the number on the door instead--finally I get through. My first Time experience with this clinic , I never come back again. I paid for my dog fecal exam . They did not hang out the result back. Just verbal tells me. Do your Work as professional. They thought all pet owner was stupid. F

To the business manager, if you would have t aken the time to read my review, you would have noticed that I had called them several times, why would I call them back after the Director Felicia tells me that it wasn't them it had to be my friend or my husband. Your business is just bad, on top of that Boomer came back with a real bad cough which had to be treated. Your people just don't care. If anybody reads this don't bring your dog or cat there.

Our dog spent last weekend at Pender's boarding site in Chantilly, where he's been before, with no problems. A few hours after bringing him home on Monday, however, he started a terrible, deep, incessant cough, accompanied by choking and spitting up. I suspected "kennel cough," but never having seen (or heard) it before, I wasn't sure. So I called Pender's emergency number in Fairfax around 4 pm, hoping he could be seen. If I could give zero stars I would. The best advice I can give is if you don't want to pay extra money for ER visits to other vets for the mess ups Pender will cause your pet, then just avoid the whole place entirely. They are extremely unorganized, the front desk staff is rude and careless, and all they seem to care about is charging you extra money (even if it's them fixing an issue they made). I will never use this place again. My one year old lab puppies were not provided water at all during their stay. The staff never walked by or checked on them. We had paid for the presidential suites which included several walks, of which my pups did not receive. My pups were also left to sleep and walk in their own feces (which somehow covered their room) and it was not until we called the kennel that someone walked in, took them out and then cleaned up the room. Update: I went back on Wednesday to talk to the operational manager and she in a nutshell did not take responsibility. I told her I was very upset with my dog's treatment. She tried to say that even if they did use the cans I provided it was still a diet change and he would have had stomach issues. It was the receptionists fault for not using my cans, not writing in the instruction notes to use my cans. While the facility is nice and 'most' of the employees are professional, thorough and capable, the manager Sami is atrocious. She is instantly rude, condescending, and unprofessional. When attempting to ask questions to understand why I have been given contradictory information, her response was very defensive and she became angry because she did not have an answer (although she was looking at a system of record).
