During application period, agent was professional & requested documents needed. However when rates lowered , he was not helpful ( even licked rate expired). To close on time was forced to pay more to keep old locked in rate. Carolyn Monson (closing approval agent) was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL throughout her phase. Yuri (app. agent) didn’t really communicate to questions, etc as desired. Carolyn responded very timely. That’s why the excellent overall review. The delay in closing was on Buyer’s end.
The lady kept telling me that me and my wife needed to sign the eDisclosures for the loan even though she was not on the loan. The penny mac lady put the responsibility on me to call back and forth to support to figure it out myself saying “none of her other clients had this issue”. After multiple calls to support and other numbers it was determined she just didn’t know about the new system. Getting in contact with anyone was slow and difficult. Call backs would take days, or not at all

I am a current PennyMac mortgage holder prior to doing this refinance with PennyMac. Including perfect pay over many years and over a 825 FICO., a 31 percent LTV. My expectations was it should take less than the 4 months it took to process. I was under the impression that the rate had a float-down option, which I had numerous other options that had that and could have lowered my rate and closing costs more so than PennyMac. Overall, I’ve been disappointed in PennyMac and would not recommend.
From start to finish the process was seamless. Effective communication and keeping me abreast of my Refi status across the board. All I can say is that the process was wonderful.
We were supposed to close at the end of October originally but our documents must have fallen through the cracks and they had to restart the process all over again. I was originally told I would receive what was in the escrow account since we were putting a new escrow account into our loan and I haven't seen that yet so I'm not sure if that's actually happened or not. I sent a message about it and did not get a response. Otherwise, everybody was very nice.
I am very happy I stayed with my current mortgage holder PennyMac Loan Services. They were very easy to work with aside from one detail regarding the closing of my refinance. Overall I am so pleased to have received a fantastic interest rate and I would highly recommend them to others seeking to refinance their mortgage.
Better communication is needed.
