Most Powerful, Durable Pressure Pool Cleaner Powered by triple jets and a separate booster pump, the Polaris 380 is one of our most powerful, durable cleaners and is suitable for all in-ground pools. The Polaris Vac-Sweep 380 pressure cleaner works in all in-ground pools, and requires a booster pump. It features an all-wheel, belt drive mechanism that provides greater vacuum power and faster cleaning (3 hours or less). Powered by triple jets, the Polaris 380 sweeps, scrubs and vacuums the bottom, walls and steps of the pool... read more
Cleans Pools - Sucks Money I've had one of these for several years. Although it does work, when it works, it is extremely trouble-prone. The initial cost is far too high for the quality of construction. You're lucky to get a year out of the hoses, which are ridiculously expensive, and, like all the other parts, you will need to replace regularly. It breaks down frequently and is not easy to work on.
Good Product, But ... This is a replacement pressure-side cleaner. The old one, with repairs, lasted 14 years. The new one works well, same style except the infeed tube which is resigned, a possible improvement. However, quality control is awful. The new Polaris arrived broken; the replacement arrived without a float attached. If this is a pattern, it would suggest caution in investing the money for this model pool cleaner ($ 699, with discounts of $50 bringing the total to $650). Amazon was GREAT about replacing the defecti... read more
Polaris 380 is not worth the money and Polaris does not back the product In the first year the tubing turned black in several areas. Although some of this black algae came off, most did not. I contacted the local Polaris rep and he offered no help. The advise they gave me had no relevance to my unit and they showed zero interest in even trying to know what my problem was. From day one the 380 never has worked as well as the 280 I had in my pool for over 10 years. The 380 is definitely not worth the money and if Polaris is wi... read more
Don't waste your money!!!! This is one of the worst in-ground pool vacuum systems ever to come out and for years there hasn't been a change in the awful design of it. Don't be fooled by what other people write in here, they probably work for the company. First of all you need a separate booster pump to operate this "thing". It uses a dedicate pressure line which must be built in to your pool. So I do have one which was installed in my pool 25 years ago when it was built. The feed hose attaches to a so called quick disconnect... read more
Polaris 380 and Zodiac Warranty-BEWARE HOMEOWNERS Purchased a Polaris 380. Unit stopped working six months into the warranty period. The manager at Leslie's Pool Supply say's he can't fix it, and Alicia Taylor CSR at Zodiac Pool Systems (The manufacturer) says they don't service or repair their own products anymore. Additionally they sent me right back to Leslie's, who again, can't fix the issue. One side issue, Zodiac only covers PARTS under the "warranty" and does not cover labor to replace those parts. They also do not wa... read more
Searching for a better sweep An earlier review of the Polaris 380 on Amazon was comprehensive and useful. I have experienced many of the operational and repair issues he mentioned as a owner of an early Polaris, it's 180 replacement, and an early (~6-year old) Hayward Viper that's ready for replacement. Polaris wore out or broke something almost every year, but was repairable for $5-50. The Viper body stiffened from UV in year 2 and a tab that holds the debris bag broke, now I use a plastic plug to hold the bag. Two internal... read more
A decade's experience This is a test I can't compare the Polaris 380 with other cleaners, but try Googling as follows: Polaris 380 forum ,where you will find divers pertinent input (no pun intended), eg: [...] Having maintained a large in-ground plunge for the better part of a decade, however, I can confirm unequivocally that the Swimming-Pool Establishment employs very few rocket scientists. The 380 system doesn't perform as well as one might hope and with a very limited warranty is expensive and hard to repair; while your ... read more
