Polaris EPIC 8640 robotic cleaner
I heard/read good things about the 8640 but it does no even come close to the job my Polaris 9350 Sport did for 6.5 years. I'm disappointed that I didn't just buy the new motor assembly. The catch bin capacity is insufficient and needs to be checked after an hour and brushed after use. My 9350 would come clean just with hose pressure. Looks/feels like different mesh material.
The unit does not remove all types of pool debris. It is common to use Flocculant and Phosphate Remover chemicals in pool water. However, the Polaris EPIC 8640 robotic cleaner does not remove this debris. The Polaris will sweep up this debris, but it blows this debris out of the top of the machine. I expressed my concern to my local pool supply store, and I was told that this unit is intended to "keep a clean pool clean". Bought this unit in April already broke. Unit won't move due to comm loss error code. Should have listened to everyone when they said get a Dolphin.
The device is easy to operate. It cleans fine debris but has trouble with larger debris (Leaves).
I have a kidney shaped pool with half the pool at 3 ft deep and then slopes down to 8 ft deep at the other end. The cleaner spends most of the time at the shallow end. It does a poor job at the deep end and there is one area that does not get cleaned which I have to clean with my normal vacuum. Also, it does not pick up sand. Don't like the cleaner and would not have bought it if I had known this.
I’m not sure this was worth $1100.00. So far, the basket has opened on its own twice, dumping all of the debris back in the pool. It somehow got stuck in one place, scratching the top & today, the back filter fell off. My dolphin did a much better job at picking up dirt & leaves. This one has to run multiple times.
Easy to use and clean but it doesn’t have very good suction power….doesn’t pick up fine dirt/sand on bottom of pool
Horrible experience. Used it for over 7 hours to clean my pool and it was still dirty. I would not recommend this product
