Polaris G52 Back-up Valve Assembly. This is a factory original Polaris replacement back up valve. It has a timer mechanism inside that diverts water out of a jet every 5-10 minutes. This jet acts as a back up, pulling the cleaner out from the pool floor or wall. There is an arrow on one side of the hose barb that should face towards the cleaner. Works as advertised. Works as advertised. It is still important to add a float in front and behind the backup valve to prevent the Polaris from getting stuck in the corner of the steps or the raised drains in the bottom of the pool. The floats give added boyancy when the back up valve activates.
Easy to install Not sure what it is about these things that cause them to break but at least they’re easy to replace. No mechanical expertise required. Let’s hope this one lasts!
