Arrived defective When this Polaris pool vac arrived it arrived defective. The right side wheel was loose and would not engage with the drive rod. When I contacted Amazon they said they were not able to exchange it because the price had gone up and they could only give me a refund. I sent it back and purchased it on another site, which was less expensive and worked perfectly right out of the box. Truly terrible product I have owned more than four of these in the last 10 years for my home and rental properties. These devices are awful. The one in my rentals work better because that pool is old and has no benches or steps to contend with to get caught on. The one in my pool at home is so terrible. My pool has four benches a toddler area, and a set of steps. The Polaris can’t handle any of it. The stupid thing knots itself up in the corner three times a day. Everybody failed on this defective cleaner! Bad experience with Polaris 280, seller Back Yard Superstore and Amazon. Pool cleaner stays hung up on steps/pump hose/intake. Hose stays twisted and knotted. Cleaner gets in bind on steps, wont back up in reverse mode, turning wheels against steps eat up plastic gears on drive wheels, making unit ineffective. Product does not have suction and appears to be a refurbished product sold as new. Product did not have the plastic nut to connect hose to main body. Product also does not have suction or move once installed. Pump is new and has great pressure. Pool man has taken it and says the jets are not working and that the main unit looks to either have been refurbished or built wrong.
Get stuck and fades Terrible. If you have any square corners (like at stairs) will stay stuck. Does not stay at bottom well. Also, the black tube started to fade/turn chalky white after 1 week. I assume from the salt. Horrible purchase.
Two Stars The wheel axle broke when I was assembling it out of the box.
