the staff at Portside at Grand Dunes really seem to be concerned about residents and do everything they can to make their lives better. it doesn't even resemble an assisted living facility, the residents are very happy here!
I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I think the staff are kind and go above and beyond to assist with Amazon orders and other things. The cost is higher. The meals aren't chef prepared meals that were promised. They haven't been able to meet the dietary restrictions of my loved one. The shuttle is supposed to take the residents anywhere they need to go. The shuttle is currently only able to go to doctor appointments and that is only two days a week. Okay community from the outside.
It's a very warm environment. The people are very polite and make you feel welcome when you come to visit your loved one, the same as they did on our tour. Mom quickly made friends. And the staff was really good to her. The food that I tried was good. The apartments are beautiful. She got the one that was really spacious, with two different areas - a kitchenette (with full sized fridge) and sitting area on one side, and a bedroom and bathroom on the other side. We chose Portside at Grande Dunes because it just felt the best and had the best vibe. The flow of the facility specifically for memory care is very well thought out and was not just added on later. They do offer both shared and private rooms. I would recommend them to others looking.
TOP of the line - fantastic place and definelty under consideration like a 5 star hotel - great atmoshphere
Beautiful facility, wonderful people, peaceful location. Brand-new and modern - upscale coastal style - looks and feels like a luxury hotel. Too fancy for us. :)
We toured Portside and it was a lovely facility. When we toured, it was just opening so we decided to go with a place that was more established with more residents. I was concerned with it being so new there would not be enough people to make the activities work. Some of the apartments here have balconies/patios and some do not.
Portside is a beautiful facility, our experience has been great so far. The community is very clean and the staff members are great. We have been so happy. The activities are still limited in some respect due to covid, and the activities are geared toward those in memory care. However they have done a great job keeping our loved one who is more of a recluse, active and involved. They really do motivated her to get involved.
