Made me feel like a time traveler - to 1987 and buggy software. spent more time than it was worth. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE A MAC. It will not work under any version of OS that it ways it does. I got it to occasionally print something but it really sucks if that is the best they can do in 2014.
PoC PT-P700 not for Macs / LINUX machines You have a mac? Don't bother with this piece of Junk. Some other flavor of Linux, waste of time there as well. How ever if you have a PC you'll be in luck. The Brother website will give you all the support you need. I've spent several hours trying to get this printer to work with Multiple machines. I use multiple operating systems. Windows is always my last choice to use. bummer for this printer.
It doesn't do MACs. Mac owners avoid! As posted before. Many problems with a Mac connection. Printing problems and setup disaster. I would shop for something more compatible.
connectivity issues! Maybe this product does better with PC, but I had all kinds of trouble with it staying connected to my computer. I would give me an error message one time, then the next, no problem. I would just keep hitting print. And eventually it would print. But no rhyme or reason to when it would or wouldn't that I could tell.
Great label printer - BUT BE (VERY) AWARE re: TAPE INCOMPATIBILITIES Uses TZe tapes instead of the more standard TZ tapes - and they are incompatible. I purchased this unit because my standard label maker went kaput. But was unaware of the tape cartridge incompatibility and now am stuck with several hundreds of dollars worth of incompatible tape cartridges. Very sneaky and, frankly, beneath contempt. Had no idea Brother was that hard up for money.
Don't buy this if you use a Mac Seems like a great machine but many printing problems if using with a Mac, which Brother Tech Support was unable to help me resolve. I don't think the company is very serious about serving Mac owners. Note: This uses TZe print cartridges, you can't use TZ cartridges.
Be aware of jamming I had a hard time to remove jammed tape and I wasted lengthy tape. I'm very disappointed about this item because even the first test was jammed and it made me hard. Be aware of frequent jamming of the item. I'm not sure that I'm just unfortunate or it is common characteristics.
If you are running Mac OSX 10.9, do not buy this I have had one of the most frustrating experiences ever with trying to get the buggy, ill-considered software that comes with this to work under 10.9. First up, the product comes with two different version of the software. The "lite" version shows up when you push a button on the top and it appears not in your application folder, but bizarrely under "Devices". That would all be fine if it worked, but it doesn't. A Diabolical design makes existing tapes unusable! I bought this unit to replace an older Brother PT 2700 that had developed software problems, but used the "Same" TZ series tape. Amazingly, the new unit has a locator post for the tape cartridge that prevents the older TZ series cartridges from fitting, even though the new cartridges fit older units.
