Cons outweigh the Pros Pros: Easy to plug in and turn on and off. The printed tape looks nice and this could be a first rate printer were it not for the cons. Cons: The PT-P700 wastes tape and there appears to be no work-around. The setup process is arcane and time consuming. The use and printing software is not intuitive but I suspect if one were patient enough to deal with the steep learning curve, it might prove to be handier that it now appears. One Star Horrible software!
I hope you have a PhD in computer science... Expensive for the complicated application you will ever use. I eventually got it to print something "kind of" like I wanted. It's NOT user-friendly.
NOT HAPPY.. Unhappy - Looked difficult to install, so sat in the box for weeks while on vaca. Not user friendly at all. Finally downloaded software to print a label and it says tape cassette error - specified does not match. It was the tape that came in the box. Now I'm past the return policy by 7 days . ... NOT HAPPY ... would love to return and get another brother label printer like my old one. ... waste of $65 bucks!!
This one works good BUT for how long.... After having the P-Touch portable one. This one beats that for me. Easy to hook up with software on board. A word to the wise though about this one and other Brother products in general.. My portable unit died without cause prior to purchasing this one.The tapes for this unit are not compatible with the older tapes so along with my older portable those are trash too.. App sucks. It only gives you a very small space to print on so it wastes a lot of label space. Could not get it to work as a regular printer. Only able to print through their app. Works in OSX 10.7 but crashes after every label. Does not show print boundaries in OSX 10.11 and will not print. It works but not worth it if you do a lot of printing.
It is a total waste of tape for no reason that can be explained ... This printer forwards 1" of tape every time I print a label. It then cuts it off and prints the label and cuts it off automatically. There is no logical reason for this. After the first label is cut off, the tape is in the same position as it was after the 1" piece was cut off the first time. Even more wasteful than previous models. Eats up supplies (your $) faster The cost vs. benefit isn't what it used to be! After several years of almost daily use, my PT-2430 PC finally started malfunctioning. I bought this unit as a replacement because the PT-2430 PC is no longer made. Many users - including myself - hated the fact that when printing, the PT-2430 would first spit out and cut off about 3/4" of EXPENSIVE, blank, tape. Good? Who knows? Maybe this is a great labeler, I don't know, I never got it to work on my Mac ( tried on OS's 10.7 and 10.8) I couldn't get the support I needed, DESPITE ENDLESS registrations and setting up personal account. I wasted 3 hours of my time on this.
