River Forest Animal Hospital has one specialty -- billings tons of money. After collecting hundreds if not thousands of dollars from us over the lifetime of our dog, they offered little empathy and no practical advice when our dog was dying. Avoid this place at all costs!

Yesterday, my dog had a first visit with Dr. Thomas at the River Forest Animal Hospital. The front staff was friendly and so was he. I had her medical records faxed over the business day prior to the first appointment. He administered a 3-year rabies shot and turns out he should not have as a 3-year rabies shot was administered last year. River Forest Animal Hospital told me they never received the fax (the former vet. is extremely responsible and I am returning to them even though they're a distance from Oak Park). Dr. Tho... read more

I took my sick cats there many times. They are fine with routine treatment and regular care but Wayne Juhnke is sometimes quick to consider putting animals to sleep which affects his judgment. He told me that my cat was at the beginning of the end but months later she is doing okay. If you go there with a life or death situation, get another opinion from another hospital and have your cat or dog reevaluated. You do not want to regret your decisions.. I have changed vets now. The staff there is very pleasant and friendly.

I would not go here again. They thought my dog was not feeling well, but said that they could not get a urine sample even though she went when we left the office. They also attempted to bad mouth me with my actual vet, who I have seen multiple times.

I really wanted to like RFAH. The reviews on YELP were great so I suppose that might have inflated my expectations and we also came from an amazing vet in the City but the trip there is just too long/stressful for our pup now that we moved. Scheduling the appointment was great and the receptionist answered all 8 million of my questions and made the entire process easy. They got all of the old info from our old vet. When I checked in for the appointment still a positive experience. It was the actual visit with the vet tha... read more

If there were any way to leave a negative one million stars, I would. I am new to the area and a local suggested them. I asked if they could board my dogs for the night. I had used them once before when I came here on business and now that I moved to the area I had to go away on business and they took them for the evening. I picked them up and my 8 month old dog took a poop in the car half way home. She has NEVER done this before. My 3yr old was whining so, which is also VERY strange for her. I pulled over and she imm... read more

I've been taking my dogs and cats to RFAH for 20 years. Most recently we had a kitten that had a growth and was throwing up. Instead of aspirating the cyst which would have costed me about $200 they did surgery. They charged me over $1500. And we determined after the surgery that there was no diagnose except possibly FIP. Two weeks later my kitten passed away from FIP. When I discussed billing there were no alternatives except paying in full. I did not have the payment so two weeks later they sent me to a collection ag... read more

My dogs have been coming here since they were puppies, now they are senior pets. I was so impressed with the vet from my first visit that I continued to bring my pets here for years. I like that their records are computerized, the vets offer three year vaccinations, appointments are easy to make, and minor services such as nail clipping are quick. Two things I have grown to dislike about this office over the years are different vets treating your pets, and they are too quick to prescribe medicine for your pets over actual ... read more
