Place is very nicely designed and decorated- sophisticated beachy. I live locally and had wanted to try it for awhile but hadn’t heard great things initially and the menu was unappealing. Their website picture also does not do it justice. The menu is completely revised more in keeping with a creative upscale restaurant. The atmosphere is much warmer than the pictures and surprisingly it’s one of the few restaurants I’ve been to where the noise level is really pleasant even though it was packed. We had, yet another, amazing meal at Sandbar. The couple who joined us raved about the Chick Pea Fries and the quality of the Salmon entre. I had the short rib pasta special that was wonderful. The only area that could use some improvement was the bread that was served. It was obviously day-old. That's an easy fix.

I remain steadfast to my long held contention that Guy Reuge is one of the top three chefs on Long Island. With Sandbar, Mr.Reuge has brought an indisputable hit to cozy Cold Spring Harbor. The tailored elegance of the decor, which conjures classic sailboat sensibilities in its teak woods and vaguely nautical details, is sophisticated yet comfortable. Service is truly outstanding. Guy Reuge hasn't lost anything in the more than 30 years I've been privileged to enjoy his culinary artistry and that's what it is- he is an artist, and we get to partake. The old classics- duck two ways, ginger almond tart, goat cheese salad- are joined by newer entries, all outstanding, whether you've had them too many times to recall, or it's the first time. Don't wait!
