This restaurant with its gorgeous views has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Our service was very fair......we waited at least ten minutes for a server to take water/drink orders. Service was SLOW....."appetizer bread and hush puppies (never got the hush puppies)" came right before our main meal was served....When our party of 6 was served, the main courses came out separately, so we all had to wait until the last person was served before we started eating, out of politeness. We loved the view at ELA's and enjoyed sitting on the balcony. Our waitress was lovely, but did not have enough knowledge about the food. The restaurant ran out of bread and a number of us waited for over 30 minutes for it to come out of the oven. Food was somewhat uneven. My appetizer was flavorless (Lobster nachos, which had very little lobster and tasted like a chopped salad with no dressing). Our steaks were cooked perfectly, but the "au poivre" sauce was not a traditional au poivre sauce, and more of a salty demi-glace.... read more

Sitting outside at Ela's is about as good as it gets. Your view is the Shelter Cove Marina and it is lovely. Our food was good. Their famous calamari was excellent as always. Raw oysters were rated highly. The disappointment was the Caesar salad. The dressing was very bland and did not taste like a typical Ceasar salad dressing. Two of our party ordered grouper, two ordered halibut and one ordered the crab cake. The grouper and crab cake were very good, the halibut was somewhat disappointing. FRESH and delicious!!! Doesn't get better than this, try and sit outside the views are the best on the island!!! Highly recommend ELA's!!!

Beautiful setting. A little out of the way but great views, No specials on a Friday y night? "Everything is special" the waiter kept saying. Well, nice company line but poor excuse for not having a real chef, and with a limited menu you need to have specials to get people back after luring them in the first time.. Best tuna appetizer I ever had however. Meals? Small and expensive. A one and done until somebody who knows how to manage a restaurant takes over. Waiter was slow and MIA.

This is second time to eat here and we will go back. Sit outside for a great view of the Shelter cove Harbour. Good Food, Good Service, and great view. Whatelse could you want. Bartender makes a great Old Fashion with Makers Mark

An unfortunately rare Hilton Head restaurant: great food with a water view. I had a halibut and my my spouse scallops: generous and portions and tasty. Excellent service, although a bit expensive; essentially no entries under $30 and pricey appetizers, but worth it. Service was outstanding and enjoy sitting on Shelter Cove Harbor. Outside deck great if weather cooperates.

Wonderful experience. Went with the girls for lunch and loved it so much I went back the next day for dinner with my boyfriend.

This place is by far our favorite restaurant on the island, came here last year for dinner and had an amazing time, and once again ELA,s delivered on another perfect end to our vacation... The views, setting, and FOOD are simply stunning and absolutely the best on the island. They had a 20 minute wait this time, but we of course didn't mind having a drink in the bar, seems like others are catching on to ELA's charm... So happy for this place and HIGHLY recommend to everyone!!!!!
