We chose ELA'S for a special occasion - our post wedding dinner and were not disappointed. The views are wonderful and the food equals the view. Hubby and I both had fish,he declared his swordfish was a winner, my grouper was tender and very favorful. Adjustments were made to mine due to gluten allergy and it was still very tasty. The only not as good part of my dinner is that veggies were nested in what must have been 1-2 tablespoons of butter (unmelted) so to me unedible. The food was great! Scallops & risotto outstanding. Crab cakes were also great. Server was nice but not attentive, it took way too long to take our drink orders & when he delivered them he spilled half a beer which he left us to clean up & didn't bring a new one & charged us for it. So many other options, won't be going back. It was pricey which food reflected bilut no excuse for poor service.
My party of eight were seamlessly fit in and seated on the outdoor dining area in spite of my mishap of specifying only 4 in the reservation, just one of several "we'll make it happen" Ela's responses during a wonderful evening with friends. Food selections, preparation, and service were excellent. Waterfront ambiance was delightful and Ela's will be an island favorite for us.
Fish recommendations of swordfish and grouper by our waiter were excellent. Both were perfectly cooked. Great selection of appetizers, nice change from run of the mill offerings at other places. The wine we picked was out of stock but we were offered an excellent alternative for the same price.
Ela's was advertised as a casual restaurant. I was dressed causal and felt under dressed. I had two children with me and the children's menu was sorely lacking. The food was great. My pan seared sea scallops were cooked perfectly! I was recommend this restaurant to a couple on a date rather than a family of four going for a casual seafood dinner.
Our party of six had a wonderful evening. The soft shell crab appetizer was excellent, as was the snapper special and the swordfish. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful with menu selections. We will be dining at Ela's again.
We took friends who were visiting for the first time on Hilton Head. Unfortunately, due to torrential downpours, the scenic view was a little lost. That did not deter our enjoyment of Ela's. 3 of us tended toward the Appetizer side of the menu and each ordered a couple of the offerings. Spectacular view and dining experience, the experience was simply outstanding.
Food was wonderful, the comments from all 6 in our group. Great outdoor view from all seats.
