Although the initial mammogram experience was great I'm having issues getting the images released to me and my doctor. I'm literally having to sit in their lobby until they hand them over so I can get a breast ultrasound at a facility on my insurance plan.

RecommendedMy tech was wonderful. Checking in not so much . I arrived in time for my 745 am appt... signed in.. sat down. At 755 I went to the desk to inquire about being late for my 8 am dexa scan , not knowing it's the same office. The receptionist said don't worry it's here . Ok . Staff in the center was lovely, but communication was very poor. I received a voice mail that only said to call them back, nothing more. When I did, the woman just started asking me when was a good time to schedule my follow up. No one had said anything about a need for a follow up and no one seemed to be able to explain why. Still sitting in the waiting area for 2:15 appointment with no explanation or apology. Disappointed.
I gave them my insurance told them to check to make sure I was covered. I had no problems anywhere else,but they sent me a bill saying the doctor that read my mammograms was out of my network! !! I told them only in Network and charged me for 2 mammograms, ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? NEVER GO BACK TO THEM! I WILL FIGHT THIS!! How do I know who reads my mammograms and who gave them permission to give them to a doctor out of my network? ??
DO NOT GET A MAMMOGRAM HERE!!! I've been going to Texas Women's Hospital for mammograms for many years. Solis just built this "state of the art" facility and for the first time, I was viciously manhandled by a technician. When I complained that I was in excruciating pain comparing with past experiences, she did not react, respond or acknowledge that a human being was there. Watch out if you don't have great insurance. If you are called back for anything, they just start running all these tests, never mentioning anything about cost, or will your insurance cover. Then you get the bill - almost $1,000!! Was all this really necessary to tell me that I don't have cancer? It should have been discussed with me.
RecommendedI received a letter yesterday saying it was time to make my appt for a follow up visit from Sept. That follow-up appt was made in Sept. I called concerned that they had no record of my upcoming appt. She checked and confirmed I indeed had an upcoming apt. I asked why I received the letter. Her response was "oh those letters are computer generated." Wow. Point 1. What a waste of money, time, paper and postage. Point 2.
