My boyfriends family’s dog just passed away 💔 on his-owners lap on the Parking lot of Sumner Vet. She was 8 years old. The vet asked if it was life or death, they said yes very. They came out and saw her and said oh sorry we are too busy to see her. True Story, no in between, no sugar coating and no beating around the bush. Ummm she is like dying, something is wrong with her pls help they said…. Oh sorry we’re too busy. Word for word, fact for fact of how it went. No excuses!!!! His brother literally walked in 3x’s ummm... read more

Poor organization of night shift work. Only one doctor. Knowing the burden on the doctor, why not have one more on call. If the load is heavy, call a doctor on call. The day shift is also not very clear how many doctors work. Such a large hospital and such a low licensing level.

Business response:

Thank you for your review. While we have been fortunate to be able to find incredible staff to hire, there is a worldwide shortage of DVM's and Vet Tech's. We are one of the only emergency hospitals in the area to have the ability to see patients. Here is a spreadsheet of all hospitals in the area with their wait times https://www.facebook.com/ervetsofww Most are at capacity all of the time. We are sorry you had to wait, we operate much like a human ER with the most critical patients to be seen first. All other stable p... read more

I took my dog into the vet I had to wait all night for him to be seen the morning came and I took him in he was not properly treated he was given an antibiotic for a swollen face I felt very uncomfortable about this so I took him to my vet the following day his face had to be drained I was charged a lot of money for a lot of nothing I called and left a voicemail with Manager and received no phone call back! This is beyond disappointing!

Business response:

Thank you for your review. In looking at your visit, it shows that we offered to have x rays done of Murphy's face and that was declined. We offered meds and asked to recheck. We are glad Murphy got into see his regular vet and is hopefully feeling better. Thank you, Sumner Veterinary Hospital

Please cancel cat boarding 7/15-19. I will never cross your threshold again. I took my perky, happy*, but vomiting dog to you on 6/30, and God only knows what you injected him with, because I brought him home listless, with diarrhea that he didn’t have before, and with no appetite (he’s a LAB ..… no appetite? What did you do to him?)? I called 7/2 to get him in for a follow-up, and the answer was NO. What is wrong with you? I understand that you’re crazy busy, but you refuse to see a dog who’s worse after your $500+ “treatme... read more

Worst vet in the sumner puyallup bonneylake area! Don’t take your babies here they don’t care about you or your pets. They just need money. I hope nobody else has to deal with the crap we have had to deal with these people are absolutely disgusting. Who does a spleen removal on an old Doberman and says oh ya I’ve only lost one. I would’ve rather held her while she passed peacefully. You should be ashamed of yourself and your crappy doctors at your crappy clinic. My dog deserved better.

Business response:

Nicole, we are truly sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us and appreciate you taking the time to chat in more detail. Our number one goal is to offer exceptional care and service, so please know we take this feedback seriously. We have shared your comments internally. Sumner Veterinary Hospital

3 years ago I gave Sumner Veterinary Clinic a 5 star review. Today 4/8/2022 I totally am changing it to a 1 Star as they have earned the rating over the last several visits. While they do have some outstanding Doctors and I was fine paying a premium price for their convenient hours and services, clearly their ownership and revolving business staff have opt'd to overshadow what could be their praises. Today we called to schedule our dog for his sedated nail clipping and routine shots. A service that has been done many times t... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your review. The number one reason clients claim they no show for their appointments is that they "forgot" despite our phone call, email and postcard reminding them. No one likes it when their time is wasted. Thank you for understanding. Thank you, Sumner Veterinary Hospital

Lack of communication, greater interest in money than care of the pet and poor bedside manor are the main factors in the rating. My 3yr old Shar Pei ate a few small squeaker inserts from his stuffed toy. He threw up two of them but then continued to throw up, stopped eating and his energy level quickly declined so I figured there was one more still stuck that he couldn’t pass. I wasn’t able to get him into a more local emergency vet because none were taking new patients due to demand so I had to drive an hour to get him see... read more

‼️PSA‼️ Sumner Veterinary Hospital is hands down the greatest vet I have experienced, especially when it comes to urgency. As you guys saw, Peppa has a lump on her paw. I originally drove all the way out to Gig Harbor to Uptown Vet. They said over the phone they would take her in immediately and examine her. They did that. Cool. Then they call me as I'm waiting and the doc claims that he cannot give a diagnosis without a needle aspiration AND x-rays. Okay, cool. How much? 550 for x-rays and 550 for the needle aspiration.... read more

Business response:

Wow! Thank you for the kind words! We are so glad you had a great experience with us. Our entire staff really tries to take care of every patient and pet parent that comes to us. Tell Peppa to come visit her new, favorite Dr. Larson soon for her regular check ups.

Worst place ever this hospital is crap deletes the honest reviews what a way to hide the truth they just want your money overcharge you, wants to kill your pet, and lie and say they walked your pet when they never did. I’d rather go to auburn and wait this place is the crappiest ever. And they talk very unprofessional.
