I stopped by this taco spot in the Gaslamp Quarter. We ordered the carne asada, pollo asado, and adobada tacos. My favorite was definitely the pollo asado--it was flavorful and juicy. The customer service was friendly and welcoming. The only downside was that the banda music was extremely loud, making it a little difficult to have a conversation while eating.

Tacos El Franc is a popular taqueria from Tijuana and their newest location is at Gaslamp District in San Diego. They're known for their handmade tortillas and their delicious meats. Of course, their signature item is their tacos; however, we were pleasantly surprised about how good their carne asada fries were. The fries had a perfect mixture of crispy, thick fries, meat, and condiments. The tacos feature the delicious, chewy tortillas. The meat is great - I liked the carne asada here more than the suadero and adoba... read more

This was stop number 4 on my Gaslamp Taco Crawl. I have to say this was the best put together Adobada taco of the crawl. The taco itself was on the smaller side but the tortilla was crispy on the edges and had just enough body in the middle to hold together. The Adobada was tender, seasoned well, and crispy, but not dry. There is no salsa bar which is a major let down for me. They had some fresh cucumbers and radishes to snack on but no salsa. If you mask for it, they have an okay habanero salsa in cups they will give you. I... read more

For $11 I expected a massive quesadilla but instead, I got a little tiny one. It was delicious but could have eaten 3 and not worth $30+.

I was super excited to try this place after hearing so many good things, and it ended up being a great spot to grab dinner before a Padres game. They're also open until 2 a.m. on Friday/ Saturday which is a huge plus if you're out late downtown. I ordered four adobada tacos. At $4.75 each, they're a little on the pricey side, but that's pretty expected for the area (still think tacos el Gordo is cheaper though). The tacos were delicious and loaded with guacamole, although I thought the adobada was a bit overcooked and sligh... read more

From the moment you take your first bite, the flavors burst forth with authenticity. The carne asada is perfectly grilled, boasting a smoky char that complements the tender, juicy meat. Each taco is topped with fresh cilantro and onions, adding a refreshing crunch that balances the richness of the meat. The salsa, with its perfect blend of spices and heat, elevates the entire dish.

Business response:

Gracias Jacque!! From all of us. Taqueros, bussers, cashiers, preps and admin! Gracias!!

The tacos de asada and adobada are one of the best that I've tasted. This is my new go to place whenever I'm downtown. This is a MUST when you are in the area. I love the environment, pretty authentic!!

I've been here 3 times now and I love it. I get adobada and carne asada tacos and they are always so good. Granted I've never had tacos from TJ but compared to other tj style tacos in the area, this location is one of my top go-to! Also you can ask for pineapple on the side with your adobada tacos :)

Located right in the heart of the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego. This restaurant is cute with a high energy vibe. Ordered the chicken tacos (on flour tortillas) which came with a side of guacamole, salsa....delicious! They also offer complimentary self serve condiments: cucumbers, radishes, peppers & limes. It can get super busy especially following a major event like a baseball game but the service is fast. FYI...street tacos are smaller than regular size tacos so I should've ordered more than 2.
