Heard a lot about this place and decided to give it a try last night, but unfortunately, the consistency was lacking. There were five of us, and we ordered carne asada tacos, a mulita, an adobada taco, a suadero taco, and carne asada fries. Since the food is brought out as it's prepared, the first nine tacos, the mulita, and the carne asada fries all arrived fairly quickly but they were surprisingly bland. The meat lacked flavor, and while the toppings were decent, we found ourselves relying heavily on lime just to add some ... read more
According to the owner, if you're not part of the Yelp Elite Squad, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR REVIEW. Anyway I was excited to try these tacos, but unfortunately, they fell a bit flat. While the presentation was decent and the tortillas were fresh, the overall flavor just wasn't there. The asada needed more flavor. Al Pastor was ok. I'm a taco connoisseur, who normally buys 40 tacos to go, from the original Tacos El Franc in TJ. I'm not joking look at my review. Y cómo soy mexicano, A mí me encantan los tacos. Avoid this place at all costs. I ate there their opening week and the line was ridiculous. The food was cold and flavorless and it's a sit down restaurant so you need to tip them for street food. 0/10
Wow wow wow Tacos are literally two bite tacos!! Almost 5 dollars taste is avg at best!!! I asked for grilled onions and got charged 5 dollars for half an onion and a burnt jalapeno jajajajajja This place is incredibly expensive seriously expensive for below avg food. I gave it a shot but Tacos el Gordo is ten times better they don't nickel and dime you like Franc. Sorry you guys need to change the prices or once the hype is over it will finished for Franc
Not bad but overpriced, Wanted too see what the hype was all about, $20.56 just for 3 tacos!! that is diabolical, u wanna eat somewhere nice and convenient, this is definitely not the place to consider, what a joke!
As a brief update to my prior review, went a second time and the food is still great! However was a bit disappointed that the restaurant isn't following California guidelines and not offering guests water other than $3 bottled water. They should address this! In response to the owner, yes I did ask my server for water, and was told only bottled. She did not offer to bring any water other than bottled.
Drove an hour from North County to see what the hype was about, TJ style tacos are one of my favorites. The nicest way to put it, it was a bust. Not impressed at all. Adobada lacked flavor and was over powered by the avocado. Meat was dry and tortillas were way too crunchy for a street tacos. $5 for onion and jalapeños is outrageous. I can say that the staff and service were fantastic. Would not be returning, so many other great tacos spots.
Being born a San Diego native in 1977, I've embraced Mexican Cuisine as one of my comfort foods since I was a kid. With that being said, I feel i have a pretty strong understanding of what good Mexican food is. From menudo to mariscos, there's not much I won't eat, but like most people I have my preferences. I've been hearing about this place for months, and it's a short drive from my place so it's already looking like a promising situation. Having been in Maine for almost a week, i splurged on some of the freshest sea... read more
Had no wait time, which was good. Ordered a cabeza taco, which back cold. Then they brought a second onethe same. But was more disturbing was when the waitress tried to argue with me that "it's because the salsa is cold!" Are you kidding me! I'm a cook, plus I'm the customer!& you want to debate with me. When I forced myself to eat it because my sons were with me. Absolutely, will not recommend the rudeness i received and I left a good tip again because of my sons & gf that was there too. Oh and did I mention they didn't ge... read more
