Stopped going here years ago because of the woman at the front desk who happens to be the Vet's wife. She was extremely pushy, but worst of all my cat was almost kept over the weekend because I was 3 minutes late to pick her up from boarding. I called and begged, sped as fast as I could around Superdome traffic. It had been a long Thanksgiving week and I know my cat wanted to be home. I am very disappointed with my experience at the Cat Practice. I called to make an appointment and spoke at length with the woman on the phone about what I wanted: a grooming and a urine test for my cat. My appointment was made for 10:30, the woman explained sedation may be necessary but that they would be able to handle it that day. The day before the appointment, I received a call for confirmation and I verbally confirmed with the woman on the phone. Wish I could agree with the above reviews. Our cat was brought in to Cat Practice with diarrhea and weight loss of 5 lbs. Indy was a patient of Cat Practice since he was a kitten. Dr. Cousins decided on a food allergy and sent us home with a prescribed food. Yesterday our cat was brought back in for weakness and weight loss. Now the cat weighed 5 lbs. Dr. Cousins said he didn't know, and suggested testing beginning at $2000. Dr. Cousins wasn't alarmed at the cat's appearance; at his best, Indy weighed 15 lbs., now down... read more

We were recently moving across country and saw the great reviews for the Cat Practice and wanted to board our cat there. We spoke with the people in the morning and they said to get there at 4:30, even though they close at 5. They knew we were several hours away and would have to leave immediately in order to get there on time. We really rushed and were making great time. I hate writing reviews. As it's always said, people only write reviews when it's bad. I actually tend to write good ones if a business really gave me a wow factor. I actually thought I'd hit the jackpot in finding a vet for my cats. My husband and I have been in the are for 2 years. We're not even from this state; we're post Navy. I've been meaning to write this review for several years. I don't know why it's taken me so long, but I never forgot the experience. Basically what happened is that my one year old cat broke his leg. I took him there because he was limping badly. The vet took x-rays and told me 'good news' just a sprain. Well, about a month later we brought him back because he was still limping. She looked at the old x-ray and discovered that she had misread it and that he had actually completely broken his femur at the hip joint! O... read more

As the owner of The Cat Practice, I am most interested in knowing more about what you described. It can definitely be true that a fracture may not be evident on early X-rays, only to become plain on the later films. I was impressed with this place due to a lot of reasons others have mentioned. It's clean, well decorated, and has a very friendly staff. The vets are very enthusiastic and dedicated, and will call to check up outside of hours. Of the doctors there, I prefer Dr. Dunn. She has an amazing bedside manner and spends a lot of time explaining what she is doing and finding through out the exam. She tends to recommend a full suite of tests that is often very expensive but will work with you to prioritize and budget. I love that they... read more
