We visited the Waltham location for my mothers birthday tonight. We had a 6:15 reservation that I had made weeks in advance. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready and we had to wait which was fine but when they sat us they sat us in a small function room with a huge other party with crying babies. It was so loud we asked to be moved, which they did. But they moved us next to another table that was even louder with about 7 kids screaming and running all around. The waiter didn’t introduce himself was not friendly in the slig... read more
Sauce was good, but eggplant parm was so loaded down with mozzarella and breading it was heavy. Salad was iceberg lettuce. Needs a bit of a modern update to the food.
Business response:
Thank you for your feedback. We take pride in the classics of Italian-American dining and appreciate your input. We're glad you enjoyed the sauce and will certainly consider your comments as we continue to improve. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you in the future here at The Chateau.
The food: it's fine. Nothing special. Fairly large portions for the price. Pretty quick turnaround from time of order. The service: friendly, prompt. The ambiance: it's old. Smells vaguely of mildew. Lottery vending machine in the foyer. Dark. The clientele: old. Old like the building. Old like talking at the dining table on speakerphone at full volume. Old like choking on their food at the table. Old like loudly discussing their medical issues in the opening dining room. This wasn't one family or an aberration. It was the n... read more

Overpriced, poor quality food. It’s mostly a place to take your grandma to dinner.
Bar service was poor, food was just fair. Just a run of the mill place.
Business response:

Service was ok, food was subpar. Chicken parm and roared ravioli was cold
Business response:
Thank you for sharing your experience at The Chateau, Rudi. We are glad you enjoyed the overall service but sincerely apologize for the poor quality of the food. Our chefs always strive to serve delicious dishes made with fresh ingredients and delivered hot, so falling short of that standard is very disappointing. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to show you the excellence of our food offering.
Disappointed not like the North End restaurants for sure.
This is a very traditional Italian-American spot that has been a go-to for generations. Unfortunately, it's lost a few steps over the years. The server was pretty great —personable, responsive, and attentive —but the hostess literally never looked up from her tablet with a seating chart as she directed us to "go straight back to the Gold Room and tell the girl there your name." The food was... mostly fine. The pizza was the quality of a mid-tier chain (e.g., Papa Gino's), the pasta dishes were at best unremarkable, the bread... read more

Thank you for your feedback FEWH! We apologize that our food offerings did not exceed expectations on this visit and that the noise level was too loud. On both fronts, we always strive to provide a better experience, so we are sorry that this visit wasn't as pleasing as we would have wanted it to be. We will use your feedback to improve in the future, and ultimately bring back the unique dining experience The Chateau stands for.
We understand things are difficult in restaurants, but there were issues with our dinner. Our server was polite, but did not follow up with us during the meal and missed a drink order from one in our group. Second, this was a special occasion, a 91st birthday, and our mother grew up in the neighborhood so this place is special to her. When our meals arrived, our mother's dish did not. She had to wait another 10 minutes before she was served. We politely requested that the meal be taken off the bill, but that request was deni... read more
