Get directionsI lived in the care home for 3 weeks convalescence following a lengthy stay in hospital. I felt safe and secure in a most welcoming environment. The staff were always cheerful and helpful which made me feel well cared for. I quickly felt and looked so much better. The food was excellent and well presented and I was able to have my hair and nails done and an assisted bath. My thanks to everyone at The Lodge.

Thank you so very much for your review with carehome.co.uk, it is so very much appreciated. As always, if you need us you know where we are. I hardly recognised you Mrs V, after my annual leave so I know there was a wonderful improvement from when I left!
My husband has settled in well and been happy for the last five months.
Business response:
Thank you for your review. We always try to do our very best for residents, from rooms to food and drink and for welfare in general. It is a pleasure to have your husband with us and to know the family.
The Lodge is a well-run nursing home with very good facilities and an understanding general manager assisted by willing, helpful staff creating a caring, effective atmosphere centred on the residents, with a caring, efficient manner. Relatives are warmly welcomed, the staff responding to queries and suggestions. My wife has made good friends, is content and well looked after. Requests for attention to aspects of her care are readily received but just occasionally the messages are not always relayed and effected in a timely m... read more

My thanks for this review and I apologise if there was any delay in communication, we will always endeavour to put this right and learn. It has been a complete pleasure to have known you and your wife and you have both been invaluable with comment and social interaction.
My father was a resident at The Lodge for 11 months. During that time he was always treated with the utmost respect by all the staff in the home. He was nursed with such care as he became more frail in his last few months and always looked comfortable. My brother and I will always remember the support we were given and the compassion shown as Dad peacefully slipped away at the age of 96. I am so pleased I chose The Lodge for my Dad.

This is a great review and I thank you so much for it. The resident and family mentioned in this review became part of The Lodge ‘family’ to all of us.
Our father was at The Lodge Nursing Home for the last year of his life. He had various care needs associated with his poor mobility and eventually palliative care needs, due to terminal liver cancer. Without exception ALL the staff were superb. They were attentive, respectful and professional at all times.
Business response:
Thank you for the super review - it is much appreciated. We miss your father very much - nobody telephones me so many times a day as he did!
Having visited a number of homes in the area, it was decided that my father would spend his remaining weeks at The Lodge. This was the best decision. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming to both my father and his family. The surroundings are clean, light, and feels very homely. My father was kept comfortable and well looked after during his final days. With so many social events, great menu choices, lovely gardens and friendly atmosphere, I just wish my father had moved in a lot earlier. Thank you to all the staff.

Thank you so much for this review - it was a pleasure to have looked after your father and to have met his family. I too, am sorry that we didn't meet earlier. Thank you again.
The Lodge is an exemplary nursing home; my mother spent the last four years of her life here when the symptoms of Parkinson's disease became too challenging for her to live independently. The environment and facilities are excellent, whilst maintaining a comfortable, home-like ambience. The staff are simply wonderful - knowledgeable, professional nurses who forged strong relationships with my mum, herself a former nurse teacher, and carers who quite simply loved her - watching her face light up as a favourite member of staff... read more

Thank you for this review. We all enjoyed your mother and her family at The Lodge and will miss them all. It is so satisfying to understand that we did a great job in every way.
My father spent the last 9 months of his life at The Lodge. During the time he was there he was well-cared for and treated with dignity and respect. The staff were caring and professional and also showed him kindness and affection. He had a lovely room with ensuite bathroom which were always kept spotless and great care was taken to keep his clothes and possessions clean, tidy and safe. The Lodge provided a variety of interesting activities for residents to socialise and were always welcoming to any of my father's friends an... read more

Since the day my mum was admitted to The Lodge I have been able to sleep! She was admitted at the end of June, the care she has received has been excellent. All the staff are friendly, caring and sincere with the residents and family! Standards of care, cleanliness, food, support, rooms etc., are outstanding.
