Get directionsMy father was a resident at The Lodge for 11 months. During that time he was always treated with the utmost respect by all the staff in the home. He was nursed with such care as he became more frail in his last few months and always looked comfortable. My brother and I will always remember the support we were given and the compassion shown as Dad peacefully slipped away at the age of 96. I am so pleased I chose The Lodge for my Dad.
Our father was at The Lodge Nursing Home for the last year of his life. He had various care needs associated with his poor mobility and eventually palliative care needs, due to terminal liver cancer. Without exception ALL the staff were superb. They were attentive, respectful and professional at all times.
Having visited a number of homes in the area, it was decided that my father would spend his remaining weeks at The Lodge. This was the best decision. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming to both my father and his family. The surroundings are clean, light, and feels very homely. My father was kept comfortable and well looked after during his final days. With so many social events, great menu choices, lovely gardens and friendly atmosphere, I just wish my father had moved in a lot earlier. Thank you to all the staff.
The Lodge is an exemplary nursing home; my mother spent the last four years of her life here when the symptoms of Parkinson's disease became too challenging for her to live independently. The environment and facilities are excellent, whilst maintaining a comfortable, home-like ambience. The staff are simply wonderful - knowledgeable, professional nurses who forged strong relationships with my mum, herself a former nurse teacher, and carers who quite simply loved her - watching her face light up as a favourite member of staff... read more
My father spent the last 9 months of his life at The Lodge. During the time he was there he was well-cared for and treated with dignity and respect. The staff were caring and professional and also showed him kindness and affection. He had a lovely room with ensuite bathroom which were always kept spotless and great care was taken to keep his clothes and possessions clean, tidy and safe. The Lodge provided a variety of interesting activities for residents to socialise and were always welcoming to any of my father's friends an... read more
Since the day my mum was admitted to The Lodge I have been able to sleep! She was admitted at the end of June, the care she has received has been excellent. All the staff are friendly, caring and sincere with the residents and family! Standards of care, cleanliness, food, support, rooms etc., are outstanding.
The home is efficiently run with caring and considerate staff. At no time did I feel 'put upon' or 'a trouble' to the staff. Every effort is made to make residents feel that this is their home, that they matter and are in charge of their own destiny.
The Lodge is by the best care home I have ever visited. There is a high staff/resident ratio and staff are both efficient carers and equally importantly human with a sense of humour. They genuinely seem to like the residents. The standard of the accommodation is very high and the food excellent.
I arrived at my home in a very bad way after a complicated operation and unable to walk. The carers were well trained and had to be told once how to move me. After 3 weeks I was allowed to start walking so there no holding me! Carers helped so much and never denied me help and encouraged me a lot. After 4 weeks I returned home, the only home in Exeter. I left feeling much better than when I went in. I had various medical problems, all well cared for by the nurses. Many thank. I may return!!
