Great menu, great service, a real enjoyment.
What a lovely evening!!! The food was fantastic. We went upon the owner's recommendations after he come by our table to say hello and ask how everything was. (have not seen that in awhile) Service was great as well. We where there for Valentine's day so they had a special menu but have been there before and it was equally good.
The food from start to finish was absolutely delicious. From the soups which were among the best we've had, to the entrees including steak which was heavenly and seafood that was out of this world, to the dessert that we could barely finish but did anyway, it was a night to remember and a place we will definitely come back to. Beautiful view of the water and sunset, quiet ambience, good service including the chef who came out to see how we were enjoying everything. Loved it.
The food was better than ever! We loved our meal and we had a great corner to ourselves so we could talk! Thanks!
Very nice place and good food... Had live music that was enjoyable. Not happy that valet parking was a bit of a walk and seemed to favor the catering hall.
Great outdoor seating on a canal. Met a friend for a Christmas lunch and the resto was decorated very well. While the food was good,and very reasonable pricing, it was the two soups that were outstanding: chowder & potato/leek which the chef makes daily.
The welcome could not have been warmer nor the service more attentive...we had a lovely dinner. The kitchen serves generous portions of well-prepared, home-like food and the staff are all eager to see patrons having a good experience. We look forward to dining here in warm weather. The deck over-looking the water looked inviting, even on a chilly November evening.

Overall, we had a good experience. It was our first time to The Oar and we were going for LI's Restaurant Week. We checked out the menu online and were eager to go out to dinner. The food was very good and flavorful. The atmosphere, however, was a bit too noisy for our dining experience. It was very loud and the dining area is located practically in the bar area.
