Discovered in winter, this was first occasion @ lunch to experience The Oarduring the 'season'.Chef makes excellent soups which no other diner has mentioned. I opted for the$10 Lobster Bisque (a tad peppery for my taste) and the Phylo-constructed Roastedpepper, artichoke & gorgonzola Quiche. A fabulous inexp lunch.No reservations on wk-ends as this is a hot spot but w/the lack of good LIrestaurants this resto is a gem.Bottom line: I make excuses to travel the 40 miles to go there..now that is atrue testimonial.

The fish was excellent, and the service was good. The desert menu needs to be expanded.
Good neighborhood restaurant, dining by the water, live music, what more can you ask? Maybe they could click the food up a notch, than it would be a great neighborhood restaurant.

the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The appetizers were excellent the main meal was good, but comparible with other restaurants. Live music was nice touch.
I've been a long time patron of The Oar. Having grown up in Patchogue, this restaurant is a favorite for locals and others. The food is great and in the summer the outdoor deck is right on the Patchouge River. There's live music which is fun, but makes it hard to have a conversation as it is a little loud. If you're a fan a bananas, get the bananas foster dessert. Best. Dessert. Ever.
Beautiful spot by the water. Fresh, well-prepared seafood. Staff professional and friendly.
The food was good. The outdoor eating area was guarded from the wind and had a view of the docks. We had to wait 40 minutes after our reservation time for a table, as people who "arrived before" us had to be seated first. There was no apology for the long wait. The waitress seemed disinterested, dressing "on the side" was ON the salad and my french fries were a baked potato.
