I think this might be one of those restaurants that must be visited in warmer months. They have a deck for outdoor dining and a nice view of the harbor. This is lost in the Winter months were you must be relegated to indoor dining. The dining room is nice and clean but on the small side. The musical entertainment for Valentine's Day was pleasant in the background

Great seafood place. All and all it is an average place. The winter months do not do the place justice as in the summer and warmer weather the deck and doors are open to the canal and salt air. Good place for group parties in warmer weather!

We can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We 'found' it thru Open Table & just decided to try it. The staff is very friendly & professional. The food is excellent & beautifully presented. Waiter (Jason) acknowledged my dietary restriction & made suggestions & substitutions to accommodate me. What a bonus that they had a guitarist/singer on Saturday night. Reasonable prices. We can't wait to go back again! All four of us LOVED this place.

I have already sent my review to the restaurant. I actually sent them an email the same evening I was there. My meal was fantastic! The short ribs over sweet potato mash was fantastic. The meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection! I took advantage of Long Island Restaurant Week and this meal was by far the best!

We enjoyed our meal. Didn't know it was Restaurant Week, so the place was packed. We did the Prix Fix; it was a good value and the food was good. Once our waiter "found" us (our waitress never came over... Jason {his name} covered for her... and he did a SUPER job.) NY Strip was very good; I prefer a bone-in ribeye (which they dont offer), but the Strip was flavorful and tender. My girl had the striped bass. That was very good too. I've always heard great things about the Oar and everything I heard was true! Everything was great and I look forward to going back. We went on a Friday and it was not too crowded. The food was great and our waiter was excellent. Definitely added to my list of restaurants and places to go.

We've been trying to go here since the summer, but the 45 min wait no reservations accepted turned us off. Finally we made it here in Oct and really enjoyed our meal. I had the special Halibut, it was great, nice and moist prepared over barley, wonderful. My boyfriend had the saurbrauten, and couldn't finish the large portion. He too loved it.The live music was just coming on when we were leaving, too bad cuz that would have been enjoyable to listen to while eating.
