We went to Thom Thom in Wantagh on NYE w/ friends. Been meaning to try this place for awhile. Our waiter was very nice but the service was disorganized. I will blame it on NYE but a really good restaurant would not have been this bad. Our cocktails took too long a time to arrive. We have gone to Thom Thom every year on New Years Eve for the past four years. The food has always been delucious but this year the steak was overcooked and too salty and the chicken was also overcooked, very dry and too salty. We had to wait almost an hour for our food to arrive. We were seated around 6 but did not leave until after 8 because of how long it took to get our entrees, dessert and the bill. Went for New Years Eve dinner. Had an 8 pm reservation. It was very crowded and waited until 8:30 to be seated. Not awful considering a holiday. I was disappointed with the overall appearance of the restaurant. My seat was ripped and taped and sagging terribly. On the bright side the food was excellent. Service was extremely slow. Barely made it home for midnight! I wish they would do a makeover of the space. Has been the same for many many years and shows its age.
Food good but horrible service. Can maybe excuse it if the restaurant was busy but it wasn’t. When you have to finally ask for more water after waiting for about 20 minutes that says it all…
I ordered chicken and it was not cooked it was red. Kids food was cold fries and cheeseburger I never complained but I could not eat raw chicken so I I did not eat At all I was shocked what they severed . The waiter advised they were understaffed so they just took off the bill obviously bc I could not even eat it
Although we had a reservation we were sat upstairs without any other diners at an 8 top table when there was 6 of us. The room itself was cold & the ceiling was a mess with water damage. The only heat was from an in the wall heater which was blowing so hard I had to put my hair up to keep it from blowing on my face. If you weren’t in line of the heated wind then you were cold. Our waitress was very sweet but had on knowledge of the menu. Thankfully the food was excellent.
I took my parents here for their anniversary and we had a horrible experience. Our server was extremely nice & personable but he never came to check on our table, ever. We were a party of 7 and we all got alcoholic beverages and he never came back to ask us if we wanted another round and he didn’t even fill up our waters. I called before making the reservation to ask about gluten free options. I was told that the skirt steak is not gluten free because of the marinade but the other steaks were fine. When I ordered a filet, the waitress wasn’t sure if the sauces were gluten free. I asked her to check. She didn’t come back. 30 minutes later I had to find her. She hadn’t checked, just put the order in. None of the sauces were gluten free so I had it plain. Then when she asked if we wanted dessert, I asked if any were gluten free. Slowwwww service. Food sub par. Overpriced. Sorry I have to be honest. Bad experience but from what I can tell no one will care about this review.
