I did not like the crowded feel of the place. The tables are too close together. The service was awful, we were not even told the specials. The food was thrown at us, although we said that we were not in a rush. The appetizers were overpriced and the portions were small. The main dishes while tasty were incredibly overpriced. Simple pappardelle should not cost $23. Desserts were incredibly unattractive. Chocolate mousse was dumped into a dish and looked unappetizing. The restaurant was full and somewhat noisy, but we were seated upstairs, so that was a plus. The staff greeted us warmly upon arrival and the waitress was great. The big negative was that, while the food was good, we got it less than 10 minutes after ordering it. For $25.00-$30.00 a plate, I don't want to feel as if the food was sitting in a buffet warmer. If they don't cook the food to order, for that price, they should at least give the impression that they do.

This is not the same as the original restaurant which had better food and a more attractive look.

THIS WAS MY FIRST VISIT TO RESTAURANT.WENT WITH 3 OTHER PEOPLE FOR A 5:30 RESERVATION. I CHECKED IN A FEW MINUTES LATE (PROBLEM FINDING PARKING DUE TO LARGE SIZE OF SUV) WITH NO PROBLEM AND THEY EVEN LET US STAY AT THE BAR FOR A HALF HOUR FINISHING OUR DRINKS NEVER RUSHING US. It was a terrible experience!! We had a 6:30 reservation and at 7pm we were still not seated and with no available tables in sight. There were tons of people waiting for reservations so it was obvious they overbooked since there was a concert across the street at Carnegie Hall (One that we were attending at 8pm as well) They eventually suggested sitting at the crowded bar, which we did, yet we didn't get served until 7:25pm and had to eat both at the bar and in a rush! one of us had a pasta and broccoli rabe dish, and the other had a slice of yellowfin tuna which had too thick a balsamic glaze.

We received a warm welcome upon arrival then were ushered to a table at the rear of the restaurant, close to the kitchen. Table was more spacious than others we might have had but the floor thundered when staff passed by. We had picked this restaurant from the list of those extending NYC Restaurant Week, in part based on its menu, but were surprised to be informed that the menu was not offered on Saturday nights. I have eaten here about 8 times and usually love it, but something has changed and the restaurant has slipped toward mediocrity. Service was horrible. We were constantly searching for our waiter,who disappeared for long periods of time. We had to ask others to check on our water, drinks, appetizers, food and finally -- thankfully -- our check so we could leave! Had the Spring 2009 restaurant week menu, extremely disappointing. Don't know why this place was so crowded on a Thursday night.
