We have been to Trattoria a number of times. It has always been fairly reliable. This experience was a disaster. We did ask to be seated in view of the antipasto bar. I guess that was the wrong thing to say. Our table was right next to the hostess stand on one side and the coat room on the other. It was a madhouse. Waiters dripping water from trays going by. People waiting for tables were leaning on our booth. The waiter was friendly, but rushed. We had selections from the antipasto bar which was good. We had two recommended... read more

This was one of the noisiest restaurants I've ever eaten in. The food was mostly undistinguished (with the exception of the lemon panna cotta, which was excellent), and the service was friendly but spotty. Portions were good-sized, but everything was overpriced. And the tables were very narrow and squeezed together. I don't plan to return.

TWe have been to Trattoria Dell'Arte many times over the past twenty years, and have always had a very good dining experience. This time we found the food and service to be disappointing. The food was very salty...very salty from mozzarella to lamp chops, to broccoli rabe. And the service was spotty. It started out OK but then declined when our waiter had additional tables. All and all a disappointment and our last visit to the restaurant.

It's across from Carnegie Hall so it's a tourist revolving door. Ordered some fairly complicated dishes and they were ready in less than 10 minutes; not freshly made. Food was okay; service was good. Dessert was good. They squeezed us upstairs in a hot crowded room with low ceilings. Not a great place for the price.

As host of a yearly dinner for a group of friends, I felt responsible to them for arranging a nice event. The experience fell far short of my expectations. We were placed at a cramped table; the waiter was missing in action; the food was okay, except for one person's tuna, which was not cooked as requested and, therefore, not consumed. I won't go again, alone or with others.

Disappointing food experience. Everything was soggy and not very flavorful.

We were fairly disappointed. We knew that the best restaurants are not located in mid-town, but we were in the neighborhood and thought we would give it a try based on Zagat's ratings. Big mistake. Food was fair. Food came out about 5 minutes after we placed our order-too bad not fast food prices. (Prices were reasonable for NYC.) The tordelli was one step up from Chef Boyardee. No way an Italian cooked the meal or even developed the recipe. The risotto wasn't any better. Service was horrendous. We had to hunt down a waiter ... read more

A beautiful restaurant stuck us in their dank dark basement and served cold food with little taste. Too many other great NYC Italian eateries to ever go back here again.

Very loud, hard to hold a conversation. While the food was good, the service was terrible. Not planning on going back anytime soon.
