Packed because it’s good dining. Wait staff very friendly but slow in getting food.
The food as great,but they were out of quite a few items. That was disappointing. We've eaten here before without the disappointment.
I've been coming to Trattoria Dell'Arte for 30 years for business lunches and dinners, as well as for "going out." It is always great--the food is why you go out to eat in the first place, and why NY has a reputation for having great restaurants. It is truly an institution but in the best way, not just because it's been there for a long time. Close to Carnegie, and not too far from Broadway or Central Park, convenient to the subway. How could you beat that?
Main courses could have been warmer. Seafood Papparadelle noodles were clumped together in a single mass. No service bread provided. Cannoli's were excellent. Have an appetizer; the main courses are not that generous. The vegetable bar looked amazing, but seems a bit pricey.
Staff was excellent. Table was awaiting us on arrival. Restaurant was totally full and very busy. Very energetic feel and noise level high. Food was good -- lasagna, spaghettis and roast chicken. Chocolate mousse dessert rich and decadent and large enough to be shared by all.
It has been my favorite restaurant for over 25 years and I was saddened when it closed during the pandemic and afraid that it might be gone for good. I was thrilled when it reopened and so happy to be back home last evening ! The only thing missing was the flier mignon of tuna!!
The service was impeccable. If you want a special place ask for the booth in the corner on the upper floor.
