This was the 2nd time I dined at the restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time and I felt the same way after my 2nd visit. Excellent food and service. I had their veal parm special. I thought it was a pizza when it came out. It was a chop thinly pounded with sauce / cheese / pepperoni on the top while still attached to the bone. It was delicious! We were a party of six. The servers made things easy by bringing out recommended appetizers for us to share. Perfect amount with all the right tastes and varieties! Look fo... read more

I always go here after concerts at Carnegie Hall, as do many of the performers. The Trattoria has an extensive menu to please all -- from vegans to carnivores. On this occasion I enjoyed the Dover Sole, a special for the evening offered with asparagus, but for which I substituted green beans. Service was splendid -- polite, efficient, and friendly (but not overly so). Everything was delicious, including the pizza (no cheese!) made with tomatoes, hen-of-the-woods mushrooms, and kale,

First, the friendliness of all the employees is remarkable. They seem to enjoy your company as person to person. And they are willing to have a conversation in Italian with interest and enthusiasm. Aside from social reasons, the food is excellent, and I look forward to going back.

This restaurant is excellent if you have tickets to an event at Carnegie Hall. Don't expect to have an intimate conversation though. The noise level is very high and always has been. We've been going there for the past 15 years and wish they could do something to dampen the noise. Overall the food is well prepared. We've always had good service. But we wouldn't take friends there for a quiet and relaxed meal unless they were also going to Carnegie Hall.

This was our second time here for a late night dinner. We chose to sit in a booth close to the bar since it seemed a little cozier. The bar was full but the noise was not an issue. Service was so friendly and the food was outstanding. We will continue to make this a dining choice when we visit New York.

If you've never been there before it may be hard to find but is right across the street from Carnegie Hall. Convenient to all midtown hotels. There is a friendly atmosphere, great food and prompt and efficient service. Definitely will recommend it to visitors!

An enduring institution: accept it on its terms or go elsewhere. Ageless decor and well-practised service. The food is traditional but well executed, although the thin-crust pizza showed a surprisingly disciplined restraint.

Opposite Carnegie Hall, it was a great place to have dinner before a concert. I requested a very quiet table and got exactly that. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Both the salad and the day's special fish were very good and I will certainly dine there again.
