I'm a little concerned here. I love this place but the last few times I've eaten here , the service was really lacking. We were completely ignored by our waiter on one occasion. Front of the restaurant still terrific but are they short-handed in waitstaff?
I've been coming to this restaurant for years, and recently booked a special lunch with two friends in town from the UK. The maitre d' was extremely accommodating, and saved us a quiet corner table near the front windows. And the service, as always, was attentive and excellent. Unfortunately, the food did not come near their usual high standards. I had described the restaurant to our friends as "the best antipasto bar in NYC" and we lunched in a leisurely way, ordering a selection of dishes to share. The fried artichokes and... read more
We went to Trattoria Dell'Arte on a Friday night and there was a $25 minimum per person. It was not difficult to reach or exceed that amount since the prices were high. The food that we ordered was very good however the portions were small for the prices paid. My wife ordered Bronzino and the two sides were extremely small. I had the Pappardelle with Eggplant Parmesan and it was a small serving. The bread delivered to the table was very good. As we subscribe to the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall we were treated to a free gla... read more
Cannot say enough about our waiter James . Friendly , charming and full of great suggestions . He took amazing care of us and had a warm friendly style that made the experience really fun .
A great spot for dinner before a Carnegue Hall concert or a Broadway show. From the first greeting as you enter, to the last "thank you" as you leave, the service is impeccable. Our dinners were delicious and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the Veal Marsala. It was both tender and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit. Be sure to make a reservation, as the large restaurant space folks up quickly!
ALWAYS LOVE THE FOOD AT TRATTORIA AMBIENCE IS GREAT AND THEY ARE SO FRIENDLY
the antipasto bar was amazing: zucchini lasagna, jumbo artichoke hearts, meatballs, sausage and peppers, various eggplants, mussels!
We had been before many years ago for lunch. We went for dinner this time and loved it. Mould go again on my next trip. We had the pizza this time and it was delicious.
Be sure to try the fried artichokes! (Tho only place we've found them outside of Rome.). The veal chop was huge......it covered the whole plate! We were lucky to be seated upstairs, which is much quieter than downstairs.
