This is a terrific restaurant. One of the things that makes it so nice is the extraordinary welcome given and the friendliness of the staff.
We ate at Trattoria Dell'Arte twice last week during a trip to NYC for a performance in Carnegie Hall. Our whole group of 14 people dined in the "wine room" on Feb. 15th. Food was delicious, service was good and the private room was great for conversation. On the day of our performance, my husband and I dined with 2 friends who arrived to attend the performance. The restaurant is just across the street from Carnegie Hall so it was convenient as we had a prompt "call time" at Carnegie. Service was excellent and the server eve... read more
This was my second visit in a month. Service excellent and food is terrific. Dover Sole was not as good as it was the first time, however! Best Chocolate Mousse ever! Great place, love it!
A popular pre-Carnegie Hall, pre-theater venue, the food is always excellent. Be sure to try the varied and delicious antipasti, which you can choose yourself from an array at the bar, or your waiter will select for you. Entrees are equally tempting - my fish a la Livornese, served under a blanket of chunky fresh tomato sauce and halved grape tomatoes, was delicious. At our request, in lieu of dessert, our waiter provided a plate of their dark chocolate and dried fruit bark to nibble with our coffee.
The food was very good, but the service was terrible. I did read a review about the resturant before we went and they said the same thing. She was a very slow server, very long time for her to come back to the table. We needed salt and pepper, chesse. I would recommend but remember they don't cater to there guests.
Sometimes when the first bite is so incredible I wonder if the chef has done something to the food that may be too over the top. Will the ingredients somehow be bad or harmful. This was almost too good to be true. The richness of the flavors was equal to only one other experience I've had in my somewhat narrow journey through the restaurant world. There's a place in Carefree, Phx. called Binkley's that goes head to head with Dell'Arte...and that puts both at the top of my list. I'll be back.
The antipasti bar is great. And the waiter and staff supplied a number of treats, including wonderful chocolate and cookies at the end of the meal. We requested a quiet area and they kindly put us in the wine cellar.
Great pre-theater.. friendly and warm service. A gem
Not as good as it used to be, but still very solid!
