Nearly as good as it was years ago..We had a festive Christmas eve dinner for 8 people, including vegetarians and children and all were able to find something to satisfy them.
Our party of six was relegated to the low-ceilinged upstairs dining room, where it was pleasantly quiet, but out of the fun of downstairs. Service was personable when the waitress was around, but it was impossible to find her for long stretches. Getting the pepper mill was a major undertaking. The risotto arrived from downstairs not quite hot enough. Two of our opening cocktails arrived 10 minutes after the others. I'd recommend the antipasti and pizza.
Great ambiance, service, and excellent food. I requested a " quiet table" and we had a lovely table in the upstairs room, one of two in an alcove overlooking the "nose" sculpture and the tables by the windows. It was ideal to have our dinner and enjoy talking with privacy and comfort.
I gave this restaurant 5 stars the first time I went there since the food was amazing, the ambiance was nice, and the service was great. Apparently that does not hold up if the restaurant is busy. Ironically I think we had the same waiter as before but this time the service initially was not that great. We had to wait a long time to have our order taken, to get more water, and never got bread until we were half-way done with the meal and even then we had to ask twice. Toward the end of our meal things really calmed down as a... read more
We have several times taken groups of 8 or so here before a concert at Carnegie Hall. The food keeps getting better and better, and was truly outstanding this last visit. Be sure to tell your server you need to get out for a concert if you are, and don't bother with the coat check, which can become a bottleneck. We asked for a quiet table and were given a lovely table in a room off the main dining room. Absolutely perfect for our group and the one other that was in there.
Meal was great. Would go there again (soon I hope)
Perfect before attending performances, has wide choice selection available to accommodate those wanting a light or substantial meal.
Good food and service and right across the street from Carnegie Hall make this restaurant a winner.
We had wonderful evening at this restaurant. Food (wedding soup, 101 layer lasagna, chicken parmigiana) was fantastic. Good wine at reasonable (for NY) prices. Service was excellent. Entire staff engaging. The chocolate covered Rice Krispie treats with coffee were to die for. The restaurant was very busy but all courses served timely and we were left alone at the end of the meal. We will be back.
