No one wants to ever have a loved one go to a nursing facility....... even if its just for short term care. It is enormously stressful, the worry that your loved one will be treated well, and get the great care your hoping for. However should you ever find yourself in that position, there is hope, and its called University Care Center here in San Diego. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this facility. After 3 weeks in the hospital, I was in need of physical therapy and care to regain my strength and get my walking legs back. My son searched and on Yelp found University Care Center to be one with great ratings and reviews,and they were absolutely right. I ended up staying there three and a half weeks. I came to University Care Center after having a R) total knee replacement. I can't thank the PT, OT, RNs, and CNAs for the wonderful care I received. This place was amazing and I will be coming back when I have the Left total knee replacement done. I would recommend this facility to everyone I know. The food was delicious and Chris, the Food Service Director came in to talk to me on my 2 day there to make sure what I liked and what I didn't like. My grandfather, a World War ll vetern who needed extented care, returned to this location and received great care. Everyone from the janitors to the boss were very helpful, caring and put the extra effort to give the best care possible. I would like to thank the PT staff the most as they always gave 100 % even when Senior Chief Jack Wilson wouldn't or couldn't, may he Rest In Peace.

No one likes having to be in the hospital, especially for months on end. Well, I just got home from my second 2mos stint in the hospital/SNF = Sharp Memorial Hospital for 3wks from, 02/27/16 - 03/17/16... It was then, 03/17/16, St. Patrick's Day that I was transferred to the SNF = Skilled Nursing Facility called University Care Center, for the 2nd time. I was admitted on St. Patrick's Day 2016 and just came home on Saturday 05/21/16. This was my 2nd time at *UCC*, therefore, this is my 2nd, well-deserved review of the WONDER... read more

I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the staff at University Care Center. My dad just left there today after a 2 week stay. He was there after a short stay in the hospital to get some things straightened out. The staff was GREAT! Very attentive to his needs, and really showed they care. The building is an older building, but we'll maintained and clean. Dad said the food was pretty good (for hospital food anyway). What a stroke of luck that I found this place and there was a vacancy. University Care Center is like a well oiled machine. There is very little turnover with the staff so it is very well run and they are all just wonderful people. In my 4 week stay I felt like part of a family and feel I have made friends for life. The building itself is older, but very well maintained. The physical and occupational therapy staff who I worked with every day, is first rate. I feel very lucky to have chosen this place. I spent 3 weeks there after a bi-lateral knee replacement and a 3 day stay at a "Dump". My wife could not get me transferred before I had lost 30 degrees in my range of motion. Thank UCC Admissions for assisting Kelly in the transfer. This facility was my home for 6 days as I recovered from a full knee replacement. The staff was friendly and caring. I had a room to myself and it had a nice view of the courtyard and grounds. The PT team was professional and loved their clients. I felt I made great strides in my recovery by staying here.
