We have been going to this hospital for our new puppy. We had previously been in for her shots, and she also had a urinary tract infection that they treated. (no complaints at that point). Last week on Friday I took her in again because she had vomited, and was having diarrhea for a few days. Obviously parvo was a huge concern from what I knew about it. The vet said she couldn't be sure what it was, and that they needed me to bring back a fecal sample. They gave her fluids and prescribed her some meds for the diarrhea. I pai... read more

I am a former client of UVH but I moved away a few years ago. However, since I have experienced three other vet clinics in different states since leaving SLC, I have been repeatedly reminded of how exorbitantly over-priced their services are. It still bothers me to this day that I was charged $1300.00 for my cat's dental procedure and then was told that they weren't sure if he was going to make it through the surgery and they were concerned about his heart and wanted to do an ultrasound (which they quoted me about $400 dolla... read more
Business response:
Hi Amy, Because I only have your first name and last initial, I am unable to look up your cat's record to research what all went into the care that was provided and the associated costs. I am truly glad that your cat is still doing well and if a very extensive dental procedure was performed that is likely a factor, as untreated dental disease can lead to other conditions, some life-threatening. I am genuinely sorry if you feel as though you were over charged and wish you had brought that to our attention at the time, so w... read more

We have a beagle (not the dog in my avatar). We also live in the high foothills and have a serious rattlesnake infestation in our yard during the early summer months. Each year in May, we've paid premium prices at University Veterinary Hospital for a rattlesnake vaccination. Each year, our beagle has developed a large, golfball-sized swelling filled with fluid at the site of the injection. Each year when the vaccination is given we tell the vet about the swelling problem and each year we've been told that there's rarely a r... read more

I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm kind of creeped out. The owner of this veterinary center used the information from my review to look up my personal information on file at the hospital to write me at my personal email address about my review. I find this somewhat unethical and creepy. I understand their concerns. Everyone wants good reviews about their business. That said, I was fair in saying that the vets we saw were great and that we continue to go there despite the price because of the quality of service and conv... read more

2/22/12: Diana, thank you for your thoughts. We take all feedback to heart and use it to try to continuously improve. We strive very, very hard to deliver top notch levels of patient care and customer service and receive a great deal of customer feedback that we succeed in doing so. We are not a low cost provider but do deliver a great value. I encourage you to truly compare our pricing. Please know that there has never been any relationship between our pricing and the vacancy of our old location (or the existence of o... read more

I cannot recommend this veterinary practice. My dog fell very very sick last year. After six months and thousands of dollars worth of diagnostic tests, we had no answer and our dog was dying. The problem, along with not having an answer for our dog's illness, was that I felt no trust in our primary vet's experience and communication was terrible. Finally, realizing that we trusted an outside specialist to explain to us procedures and options more than our primary vet at UVHDC, we decided to move to another veterinary practic... read more
Business response:
Please be assured that everyone at UVHDC is committed to the highest quality care and service. We are not flawless but we certainly try extremely hard to provide the best possible care to each pet and the best possible service to each owner. I am sorry that your experience wasn't satisfactory and am glad that your dog is doing better. I would be interested to learn more about the specifics of your experience and to address your concerns further. I cannot identify you ,so if you would like to contact me at the hospital, I... read more

I am outraged at the care received at this clinic. I was heavily pressured (and guilted) to do a teeth cleaning for my cat, and despite my reservations, I agreed because this would supposedly "prevent other health problems in the future." Unfortunately, this procedure led to the extremely premature death of my wonderful and completely healthy cat. My cat was 7 years old and had never been sick in her entire life, in fact had never been to a vet other than for spaying and vaccines. A few days after the teeth cleaning procedur... read more

I went here because all the other yelpers gave 5 out of 5. They are friendly at this vet hospital, but despite what the other reviews claim, I ended up paying much more than I expected for the services rendered. I got a check up, observation, hydration, and a blood test for my cat. The total came out to more than $250 which seemed like a heck of a lot more since they didn't send me home with medicine or any diagnosis. The checkup and observation where about $56, the blood test $75-100. Did re-hydrating my cat really cost aro... read more

My dog had a simple ear infection and her ear flap swelled up a bit. They told me they had to put her under general anesthesia and perform surgery for $500+ I took her to her old vet when visiting in Colorado the next day. Her old vet said that was ridiculous, gave me some ear drops and told me to keep her in a cone so she couldn't scratch. A few days later and she is fine. Another time they gave her a bunch of new medication for her hip, after I told them I was moving her to a new type of food. She ended up getting so s... read more
