We first turned to University Veterinary about 15 years ago, after a not-so-good experience with a different vet, and our various dogs and cats have had wonderful, compassionate (maybe we should say "loving") care from everyone there. They all seem to know every animal who comes in the door. Even when I drop in unscheduled to check a dog's weight and snitch a chocolate chip cookie, the pet is greeted by name, usually before they notice I'm there too. The veterinary doctors clearly provide great training to the tech staff and... read more
After reviewing and considering many vet's offices in town, my boyfriend and I decided to take our purebred Singapura kitty to University Vet Hospital for his neutering. We were more than happy with the treatment given to our baby. Upon calling just for an estimate for the surgery, they said $200, which is steep, yes, but since we consider our little guy a family member as well as an investment since he was so expensive in the first place, we decided quality over saving money was the way to go. I called them on a Tuesday, a... read more
I cannot say enough about the fantastic care and service my dog received. I have been in SLC for about 5 years. Dr. Magali Lequient has been my dog's primary vet. If Dr. Lequient was out of town or unavailable, UVPDC was always excellent about squeezing my dog in for an urgent appointment with another vet. For the last couple of years, my dog has been suffering from a degenerative neurological disorder. Dr. Lequient was fantastic with advising and working with all my requests including exploring a number of non-traditional... read more
I just moved to the area, and was worried I wouldn't find a vet that was as nice as my last vet. Well, I was unnecessarily worried! My puppy, Murphy, got sick shortly after I moved, and I called these guys up. They were incredibly friendly on the phone and were able to fit me in that afternoon. Upon arrival, I was impressed with how clean and new everything at the clinic was. The staff was wonderful. Everyone stopped to say hello to Murphy and talk to me. We got back into the exam room pretty quickly, and the vet tech... read more
I love these guys, as they are super compassionate and have helped my dog many, many times. I started going there because they are so close to my house, but since moving to their new place, I have to admit that Allen has hit the nail on the head. Too much money for me. And to top it off, I end up feeling guilty telling them I need to take my dog to a cheaper clinic for the small stuff (I know, guilt is totally in my own head). But if I could afford it, my dog would be their #1 customer! Dr. L and Dr. G have been absolute... read more
So, to be brief and honest: I like it because it's nearly an all-female staff, and women are so much better at being compassionate vets/vet techs than men. I don't like it because their prices were always painfully steep (in my eyes), but I always dug deep when it came to surguries, because I wanted the best for my cats. When it came to vaccinations, I saved the extra $20-30 and went to either PetSmart or Sugarhouse Animal Clinic.
There is no other vet in the valley that I trust more than the Veterinarians at University Pet Clinic (Now called University Veterinary Hospital). I've always taken my cats to them, and have gone to just about every Vet they have working there. They are extremely knowledgeable, have all the best treatments & technologies, and are truly caring lovely wonderful people. Even the Vet Techs are amazing - they always remember my kitties and are always available & ready to help. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!
We have been taking our dog here for 3 years now, however I am very disappointed with the service we received today. Dr. Potts barely spent 2 mins with our dog before dismissing us and sending me home to treat my dog on my own. Her bedside manner and customer service leave a lot to be desired.
TLDR: Great care, astronomical prices with 0 warning and no price breakdown. Charged $700 for an appointment that costs ~$200 at other clinics. I want to preface this review by stating I think the veterinarians and staff are extremely competent and provide good care. My issue is not with the quality of care, but with the cost and lack of communication regarding it. I went to UVH for an international health certificate for my cat as they were accredited by the USDA for certifying pet travel. I visited the clinic twice, the ... read more
