I didn't have the best experience at Violet Crown. Unfortunately my movie experience was tainted as we could hear the sounds from the movie theatre next to us. (Probably didn't help that the film I was watching was a serious drama with very serious scenes)- but you would have thought the movie next to us was another Die Hard movie from what we could hear in our theatre. The plus side is that there is 4 hour parking validation Also bring a jacket! It was very cold

Great little spot, many options to buy for the menu, alcohol can be purchased!!! Tickets are kinda pricey at 13 on the weekends, but theater is near empty, only around 20-30 seat in each theater. Row closest to screen is all chase lounge chairs!! All in all great little place to get away and watch a movie

Boyfriend and I loved this place. They play quality independent movies you won't find in a typical theatre, full bar, hip but refined atmosphere, and good popcorn. We'll be coming back!

Awesome vibe, and great location downtown! Wish they could offer a wider variety of movies, but do love the artsy feel! Food is great, as are the drinks!

I had a fab time going to see "Isn't it romantic" I went with my lover on valentines day and it was nice to be able to have a bite to eat and relax while watching the movie. It was the first time I had gone in, but it won't be my last!

I wouldn't come back but it may be for you. You get validated parking in Texas' best downtown--Austin. Amazing balcony view in a prime location downtown. Lounge is great and modern. The theater rooms are quaint and small. Perfect for a date. Great sound and comfy seats. Movie choices very limited. Can only sit at seats 5 minutes before movie. The food was okay. Popcorn was great as was hot dog. Suggest those two. Fries sucked. I just prefer Alamo better but if on date then hey go here!

Excellent food and drinks; though, the popcorn may be the worst tasting popcorn I have had in my life from any cinema. Fair seating except the front row which is superior. Difficult to eat in the theater as you have to bring your plate in the theater thru very tight isles. I go for the unique excellent movies. I wish Austin's theater was remotely close to their theater in Santa Fe NM. If the seating is not corrected soon, I see the competition putting Violet Crown out of business. I've read all the reviews and scratched my head at some of the comments. First this is a small, 4 screen artsy theater. You aren't likely to find, big blockbuster films here. They specialize in artsy, independent and documentaries. They sell out often, so buying your reserved tickets online, is strongly encouraged! Upon entering you'll see the bar directly ahead, and to the left of the bar, you'll find the snack counter, where you often purchase your tickets, and get your parking stub validated. I was recently in Violet Crown Cinema to catch a film and while the experience wasn't great, it wasn't terrible either. Located on the second level in the 2nd Street district, this is an intimate theater / cafe. It's a little strange when you actually walk in. There are two counters: one for typical movie theater snacks like popcorn, candy, and soda, and the second counter is for cooked to order food and drinks (cocktails and beer).
