I really like VCC! We discovered it on a whim after we ran inside to escape one of those short but intense Texas summer rain showers. It's a cool smaller boutique theatre that shows a curated set of movies. They have a bar and food area that serves a variety of creative cocktails and snacks like spring rolls, roasted brussel sprouts, etc. that you can carry into the theatre. Absolutely beautiful little theater with a generous lounge. Very classy place and with free 4-hour parking downtown! Can't be beat.
Great theater in a central 2nd Street location. Tons of beer, fancy snacks and foods to choose from, and a really well designed space.
I really like the cinema scene in Austin. I've been to Violet Crown a few times now and it's unique from other theaters like Alamo Drafthouse or iPic. They have a cool cafe with seating area and a full bar where you can order adult beverages. My only issue is they don't have service in the theater but you can bring food and drinks from their cafe into the theater. Part of their uniqueness is that they show a lot of indie films with limited release. They also validate parking up to four hours in the garage behind the theater.... read more

Absolutely love this place! I was so impressed by the food at the cafe, it is really incredible! Highly recommend the brussel sprouts and the truffle fries! Perfect place for a bite to eat and an amazing movie.
I cannot say enough about the amazing customer service I received last night at Violet Crown! First off, I've been here before but it's been almost four years. I didn't remember how ordering/delivering food worked, parking validation, etc. Me and my friends asked the bartender several questions and took our time ordering. He was super helpful and never once rushed us or acted like we were being a bother. I even had to go back later and ask about my ticket. Super sweet guy.
