This is my go to theater when I am in Austin. They are usually good for some indie films. They do the food and beverage and assigned seating dealio. The seats are comfy and the screens are standard size. And Cody McConaughey works here! Well the bartender kind of looks like a relative of Matthew McConaughey... and his name is Cody.

Its a shame that I practically refuse to go to any other theatre. If there isn't something playing there, I usually find something else to do. Love the seats, the drinks, the fries, and the movie choices. They make my movie going visit special! Glad they are in Austin

This place is COOL! And has free parking for 4 hours downtown...I've gone to several dine in theaters in Austin and this one is my favorite bc of its size. Smaller theater, don't expect a mega-screen, but I really liked it bc theres no hustle-bustle and just feels more relaxed. Food was great, had tofu lettuce wraps and avocado spring rolls (Thank You! for the vegetarian selection). You order at the bar and there are plenty of tables to hang out at before the movie starts. Came here with a friend to see La La Land. Like many Austinites, I am pretty partial to Alamo drafthouse but this was an awesome experience. They validate parking and you should definitely stop by for an elevated cinematic experience and it's not as pricey as ipic!

I poured over these reviews before visiting for the first time and was a tad concerned but went with it because my fiancé loves movie theaters and I typically don't. However, this was a fabulous experience!!! The parking garage was breezy for being on 2nd street and the proximity to our house is perfect. We ordered two of the gourmet hot dogs, some popcorn and 2 drinks. We were pleased to see refills were free and our food was honestly delicious. I am a tough critic! I love this theater! Free easy parking right downtown. Amazing cocktails and great vegan selection on the menu. Service has always been stellar. Best of all, a wide selection of independent movies you might not see anywhere else in Austin.

We had so much fun on our first visit to the Violet Crown Cinema last night! I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the mix of reviews, but was pleasantly surprised! It is a bit "swanky" for a movie theatre, but I'm not going to complain about that :) Such a pretty view outside! My fiancé and I didn't try the food or the drinks but definitely will next time. Hummus and Pita. Theatre clean and fun. The lounge with great seats to hang out before the movie. The guys are polite, can talk movies and are kind of nice I love these kinds of experiences. Adds to the layers of Austin for me...
