I tried to reserve tickets online, but then I called the guy and he was like "oh here cancel your order so I can see them" and I was like okay sure and then he was like "okay I see them" and then Stacy interrupted him or something, probably important, but anyway then he gets back on the phone, and says "oh they're gone someone must of grabbed them" that could have been me. But it wasn't? So moral of the story, I'm not seeing a movie there tonight but I still respect them a lot? Maybe one day?

As a diehard Alamo fan, I've always had a special place in my heart for Violet Crown. It feels like a luxury at-home cinema instead of a movie theater. It's a completely different experience and shouldn't be compared to other theaters in town. We arrived about an hour before our movie, so we could enjoy food and drinks at the bar. Just another reason to love the movie scene in Austin. Violet Crown is a gem and offers many films you can't find anywhere else. We especially enjoyed seeing a documentary and the shorts that were nominated for Oscars this year, along with a fantastic foreign film. Comfy seating throughout but if you can snag a front row seat, you also get an ottaman! Parking is easy and the menu and bar offers good variety to enjoy more than just the usual popcorn and soft drink. Skip the metroplex and all the big budget Hollywood fare... read more

Violet Crown Cinema is a one of a kind theater. Their food is creative and varied. The staff is on the ball and always ready to help. I like the theater so much I guestion if I need to see a movie if it isn't showing at VCC. I come early and take advantage of their relaxed "coffee shop" like atmosphere.

Violet Crown might be one of the coolest cinemas we've ever been to. Situated on the first floor in the middle of Austin, the theater already has its location going for it. And when entering it, you'll notice that they've totally got the nonchalant ambiance covered as well. What a great place to experience a movie...you can grab a bite before at their cafe or bring what you ordered into the theater...they have a great bar. Oh, you can reserve your seat in advance and those seats are comfortable!

A cool concept for a theatre but a few things could make this place better. The food was ok but very small portions for the money. I would just suggest going to eat somewhere else and them coming here for drinks/snacks. I've been to other theatre's that serve food and they have tables set up inside the theatre along with dim lights so you can see what your eating while it's dark. Violet Crown Cinema is super cool. A great, trendy, fresh take on movie theaters. I'm used to Alamo and sure, VC repeats some of their ideas but in a different way. 1. You walk up to a counter to order your drinks and food and then they have several places you can wait for your food. When your movie starts, you either bring your food and drink in, or you don't. By far my favorite movie theater in town. Has parking, food, and a full bar. Absolutely love this place
