This is the most boring place I've ever been. You're not aloud to bring dogs in which really ruins the atmosphere. Also the movies here are boring except for the ones with Tom Hanks or Adam Sandler. Last time I went here it was in the summer so it was hot so I didn't have a jacket. I went in and it was freezing. I think I have hypothermia. Do not recommend for anyone. Ever. Period. The worst experience I have ever had. Also the food is sub par. Also a bit overpriced. Popcorn isn't that bad though once you drench it in butter... read more
Had some good times here. Until tonight. They're advertising as a box office for the local film festival. I came by to pick up the tickets I'd payed for and was told the box office was closed and to come back at 1030am. On my way out the cashier hollered the basis of my inquiry to the manager? Who replied noon. We'll see I guess.
I have a bad experience every time I come here but the options for moviegoing in Cville are limited enough that I have to keep coming back anyway. Explains why Violet Crown is content to let such glaring problems persist: theater seats that are -- most of them -- creaky, so that you have to sit perfectly still throughout the movie lest you disturb everyone else with the groaning and popping of the chair's joints; god-awful espresso drinks at the cafe made by baristas who seriously need to be retrained on how to pull an espre... read more
Not impressive, I recently attended Red Sparrow at the Violet Crown, 8:55 showing on Saturday night. A movie is such a treat. So pardon me when a manager makes the call to remove one person who had a mountain dew zipped away in his bag, and that person was apart of a party of 8 in a theater of perhaps 20. The door is next to the screen, so each time the manager came in to pull a person out of their seat during the first 15 minutes of the film, We were interrupted with bright hallway light. And worse the people involved thoug... read more
This place REALLY needs to invest in some WD-40. Such a cheap fix for a huge movie going problem. All you can hear is people adjusting in their seats during movies. Very distracting when you're trying to enjoy a film.
The worst theater in Charlottesville you are practically required to reserve your seat and hope the spot you pick you will like, there is no changing seats. Went to see a movie on spur of the moment with four people, showed up an hour early and could not get four seats together! This for a movie that had been out for almost 2 months! Again don't go if you have not pre planned your movie experience. The movie theater as a whole has a snobby feel!!!!
Ah well had I been able to get tickets online maybe I would have enjoyed it but my experience was a complete and utter fail. First, it would not let me select the tickets I wanted which were side-by-side and shown as "available" because the site said there was a gap between them. There was not. Second, when I went to pay there was nowhere to enter credit card info at all. I used two different browsers to try this and both things failed twice. The website is also oddly designed - the "purchase tickets" button is an afterthoug... read more
Be careful what you wish for. I wished for another movie theater here but parking is a pain and the walk is only great in warm weather and during the day. Over priced and nothing special. The only reason I went is because it was the only theater that was showing what I wanted to see. The town can afford to show the same movie in two places for people who don't want to hike to a movie. **Also theater is not conducive to handicap patrons. I saw no handicap seating not to mention parking for them.
Waited in a terribly disorganized line for 25min, just to be told when we finally reached the front that the movie was sold out all day. You can't put a notice on your screen to avoid this problem? I've been told that it's a very nice theater, but I can't comment on that due to disorganization and poor customer service.
