My official go-to theater now! I love Violet Crowne because of the fantastic service, bar, and comfy seats. Plus they also validate parking for four hours in Market Street or Water Street parking garage. The theater is so beautiful and clean, too. They offer complimentary sweet tea, coffee, and water as well. The bar prices are reasonable and everybody is just super nice and helpful. They let me sample different beers for free! Strolling around the downtown mall on a Sunday a little earlier than most of the shops were open, I was able to see a movie and have a delightful light lunch (flatbread with pear and arugula). Highly recommend!

Okay, so I'm a sucker for delightfully different. We visited the crown on the downtown C-ville mall as an after dinner anniversary movie. The set up is simple and easy. You can either go on line and select date, time, and movie or just show up. We did both. Unfortunately my hubby selected the day prior so we were a day late but ended up not being that dollar short as the staff fixed us right up and pretended we selected the correct date to begin with. I love this theater. I love movies. But the current habit of people using their smart phones has me wondering if I will quit coming to the cinema. Today the storyline was interrupted by people texting, checking emails, and one who played a game! This rudeness takes us out of the story and obliterates the suspension of disbelief so important to enjoyment. I would give Violet Crown five stars if it weren't for the patrons who can't live two hours without looking at their phones.

Reserved seats are cool and staff is nice but I consider previews part of the movie experience and they leave the lights on throughout previews. I don't care if someone shows up late. The lights need to go down at the showtime.

Love this theater! Have a great dinner and drinks at the theater before your movie. Take a cocktail in with you, lean back, relax, and enjoy a great experience. The staff is great and really accommodating.

LOVE this movie theater! Ticket prices are comparable to any other theater, but this one is so much nicer and has more to offer. The seats in most of the theaters recline (so you're almost completely flat) and have a tray table that pulls out. There's also a bar and restaurant available, so you can order wine, beer, snacks, candy, and even small meals to eat during the movie. Will definitely be returning here again.

I like Violet Crown a lot! But their employees need better training and I wish they still served liquor. Regardless, it's definitely one of the best things to do in on the Downtown Mall. When Violet Crown first opened, their downstairs bar was actually a bar and served liquor. As a non-beer drinker this was a huge draw for me! But after a few months they dropped that and now only serve beer and wine; very disappointing. The staff is all over the place; it often seems like there was little or no training for employees. I like the theater. But the food not so much. We bought the recommended fries and tampas. Very disappointed. Tampas. Have a smoky flavor. But not much else. The fries were limp. And the grated cheese did not add much to the flavor.
