If you're looking for an upscale but reasonably priced movie experience, you should definitely come to Violet Crown! With a bar and dining area, they serve more than just your typical popcorn and sodas. You can order from a good range of made-to-order appetizers, pizzas, salads, and drinks (with drink specials) and bring them into the movie theatre with you. My husband and I love bringing our teenage kids here to see movies. The price of tickets and concessions is comparable to the multiplex, but the experience is so much better! Here's what you get: Leather seats with solid cup holders and an optional fold-out table if you want to put your food on it. Love them! Wonderful staff, comfy seats! The food is overpriced but I love the fact that I can grab a cider and watch a movie. Spring rolls and salad are yummy. Highly recommended!

Y'all wanna talk comfort, then let's talk Violet Crown. This place is extremely clean and the staff are all really down to Earth and very personable. The auditorium has a cozy feel and will have you feeling like you're back in your rich Ex girlfriends home theater. The whole layout of the place is really unique. Outstanding-what a great way to see a movie. Beautiful bar, the menu is decent and there is a soda machine on each floor for whatever soda and however much you desire.What a difference from the nightmare of multiplex theaters with mountains of overpriced snacks. This place has pizza's, salads,hot dogs, fries wines and liquor at a fully equipped bar and the staff is great. What else do you need ?

So I came to watch Star Wars here (since Charlottesville had that law where theater's had to bid to show it before the other one -they since got rid of that law and both local theaters can now premiere the same movie) and was impressed. The bar/cafe are open w/natural lighting (the whole front of the theater is a window-wall), clean, has seating at the bar and tables, and good handful of food selections. What a pleasurable movie-going experience! I've been here a couple times now, and I've always been happy with the service, concessions, and comfort of the theaters. You pick your seat when you buy your ticket, so there's no stress about finding seats when you're running into the theater after dinner on the downtown mall. I was sad to see the old theater go but this place is AWESOME!!! Chairs were amazing and booze prices amazing (especially coming from Brooklyn where everything costs an arm and a leg!!) All staff was super friendly and helpful.

I love this place. It is so comfortable and everyone who works there is so friendly! I went to one of the small screenings and the chair reclined. It was more comfortable than my house! The popcorn is also delicious. I can't wait to try the Brussel sprouts.
