I've truly never been to a theater quite like this one! Fancy with delicious food and a draft list that is much longer than I expected- definitely a winner in my book! Violet Crown truly blew away my expectations. First, the inside is clean and has a great vibe to it. Home run for downtown Cville! Good for dates, families, and solo. Particularly love the upstairs counter for wine and people watching while awaiting your show.
Ticket prices are reasonable, the theaters are clean, and the nice chairs recline. As a big plus, you can reserve blocks of seats in advance and they serve beer/food, which you can bring in to the theater.
Great theater, but I would warn anyone to avoid the first row end seats in theaters 8-10. Those theaters only have three rows and you are very close to the screen - but the end seats don't actually face the screen, they face the wall. Honestly, they should just remove those seats.

About time Cville hop on the trend of fancy, upscale movie theaters! Violet Crown is an exciting addition to the downtown mall and has absolutely become our favorite, go to theater in town (Sorry Regal Stonefield, you're nice but not this nice...). Tickets are $11 weekdays and $13 for weekends so there's no reason to not come here. It's impressively clean, staff is amazingly friendly, and the seats in the smaller, downstairs theaters are wonderful. Visited this theatre/bar on a road trip last month, and it was a phenomenal experience. The place was beautiful, staff friendly, and the beer selection was amazing. I just hope they bring one to Maryland soon!

Violet Crown Cinema is an extremely upscale movie theater on the historic Downtown Mall. You can purchase tickets in advance online, or you can use the machine in the lobby of the theater. You have to reserve a specific seat number upon purchasing tickets. They will not allow you to purchase seats that have a seat in between another group of seats, so basically, it forces you to have to sit next to people, which doesn't happen in a normal theater except when it's opening night.
