I went here with my wife for her birthday. It was, simply stated, the best restaurant I've been to in the Twin Cities.
Great brunch featuring both breakfast and lunch items. The tasting menu is a great idea but not if only one or two at the table orders it. Others have to wait and watch you eat. Those who didn't order the tasting menu were starving by the time their food came out and those with the tasting menu had already eaten 3 times. Clumsy.
We had a kind, attentive, and courteous waiter. The dining room is lovely. We thought the food was going to be simple Americana, we were pleasantly surprised by the imaginative, delicious, succulent dishes, the cassoulet is divine and the mussels were plentiful and super tasty served with bread that is adorned with some kind of delicious buttery oil. My wife and I enjoyed having lunch there for our second anniversary, as we had enjoyed eating dinner there on our wedding night and our first anniversary. The service and food were as outstanding as usual, and the environment was nice and relaxing.
My husband and I got engaged at WA Frost (our favorite restaurant) in January 2008, and on Saturday we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary at the very table where my husband proposed. I had mentioned this ahead of time when making our reservations, and WA Frost made sure to make our evening extra-special. First, we were treated to a complimentary champagne toast. My friend and I enjoyed the tasting menu with its wine pairings. It was our second time at Frost for this lovely dining experience, and it is one of our favorite in the Twin Cities.
I was unsure of that to order when I first sat down to eat with my wife. It was not until the waitress mentioned the soup of the day (lamb) that I decided to try that as well as order a salad. I ordered the cobb salad to go along with my soup and that was the best part of the entire meal. I have cobb salads all over the country and yours was by far the best I have ever tasted. Simple, yet delicious. Keep doing what you're doing.
We celebrated a family member's birthday and it was very nice. The family mber now wants to introduce it to out-of-state friends. Very nice. Loved the "mini" desserts.
WA Frost has become the place where a friend from St. Paul and I meet 2-3 times a year for lunch and talk. The food is great, the service friendly, and the noise level is low.
