I had booked an eye brow tint via Lifebooker.com for this Madison Avenue location which was a trek coming from Downtown. So needless to say, when I arrive on a Saturday morning and is told by the woman who does mani's/brow's that she can only tint blonde colored eyebrows. All she said was "It's intended for blondes, if I do it on you, it won't show. I can't do it on you." If I hadn't received one of the worst haircuts of my life, I'd give this place a 5 for the ambiance and highlights I got from Syd. First the good--I'm an interior designer and I found the design of the salon to be stunning, sleek and modern but still ethereal with the linen curtains hanging behind the mirror and the comfortable automatic reclining hair washing chairs. My expirience was very similar to Carolyn S. for the manicure (2 star). Both attitude and quality of service were way below expectations. My haircut (3 star) was ok but was expecting better for a place that charges over 100 dolars for a cut. Will not be going back. Receptionist (5 star), super accomodating and helpful.
Completely over-rated salon. Granted, I did get a reduced price on a cut and manicure package, but I wish I'd just gone to my old place. The best thing about this place was the wash chair, and the receptionist was friendly. My haircut took 15 minutes, and it's completely uneven. She didn't even check the length on either side until she'd already blown it dry and hacked at it on one side to even it out. The layers on one side of my head are longer than the other.
