We had an in-office phone server prior to switching to 8x8, mainly because we are a medical office and I was concerned about HIPAA violations with a cloud based server. I do not have an answering service so I use the auto-attendant to direct after hour calls. Unfortunately we had constant problems with that system. Call quality was less than ideal. They were very helpful this time. The wait time was quite long though.
I like the flexibility of using my phone anywhere and being able to forward it to an external (cell) phone with extreme ease.
We love the conhesiveness of our offices being together on the same telephone system and the ability for all of us to get access to voicemails and phone calls wherever we are with the app, call forwarding and email functions.
We absolutely love the fact that we are not tied to our desks to utilize all of the functionality of a desk phone. We have several people that travel and it was difficult to interact with phone calls (i.e. utilizing park, transfer, etc) but with the mobile app and the ability to plug other phones into different offices across the country saves us a ton of time and money compared to the traditional route.

Simplicity! Setting voice messages to automatically email recordings, makes forwarding messages to appropriate party fast & easy. This enables us to quickly communicate with callers. Viewing our call list log is a breeze. Additionally, having an electronic detailed call record with voice recording file to document employee absences improved our ability to track absenteeism, communicate workforce productivity shortages, and therefore identify & resolve HR issues.
I love the ability to work from home partly due to the 8x8 phone and headset. Working with the 8x8 team to replace my phone and headset every 5+ years is seamless and fast! I recommend 8x8 to all my co-workers!
