I am very agree with most of the reviewers who have given one star to this company. I will give 0.5 stat to this one. Many reasons: they just want to take money and will always run away from the problem. I am struggling with ac problem, and several times they sent technician to repair, every time I end up giving several hundred dollars for refrigerant cost, apart from their one time service fee. Having lots of issues getting things covered that should be covered. And with billing taming extended periods of time to clear up.

LIKES there pretty quick to respond to your service ,DISLIKES my garage door opener went out I personally installed it over 10 years ago , the contractor came out quick he told me he could put in another garage door opener $198.00 but it was under power I told him I wanted to get a more better one about $500.00 side mounted opener and I could install it and Home Shield would give me a voucher for about $200.00 I said great ,Now Home shield did say they would give me the voucher but it had to be installed by a contractor,Im u... read more

The technician mis diagnosed original call. said it was underground and it wasn't because I hired a electrician who found the problem above ground in the timer box. that's where the short was. I paid $75 for a call that was not handled well. I'm thinking of discontinuing American home shield unless I get my $75 refunded

Lack of clear communication. They claimed they sent a email confirming service but email just said to contact the service provider.

Cancelled policy after 5 years due to frustration over trying to get a change of providers. Kept asking to speak to a supervisor during multiple calls, only to be told it wasn't possible. Provider told AHS twice that my job had been completed, but it had not. Even after being lied to, AHS would not give me a different provider. I gave up trying to get AHS to take care of my problem and thought it was better to pay full price for the repair rather than deal with them for one more second.

Seemingly after you pay your $100 fee for the service call, there really is very little that can be done while the plumber in this case is there, they have to take pictures and send a request in for permission to do repairs.

Technician was good at getting my problem solved; however, while he was here working, someone from his office called and tried to upsell me several things. I did not like that. I wanted my problem fixed and wasn't interested in upgrading anything. The things he offered ranged from $175 - $1800.
