I wanted to talk to a person, not a computer when I called
As a new home owner in New York I hesitated getting a warranty just because I did not want to spend the money. But soon realize that it was the best decision I made especially picking American Home Shield ! The homes in New York is by far have low standards in construction than in California. With that said our heater, air condition even our stove was service and both the air conditioner and the furnace needed to be replace and they used their own contractor which by the way American Home Shield chose the best ! Made the claim within 5days they were at my door. Determined my water heater was bad and had the new one installed and working with in 4hrs of showing up. Total peace of mind with proof. Thanks AHS

They were prompt to schedule a service request. Although delivery of new appliance was a bit slow, it was not their fault but the company they issued the order. Other than that. I've been satisfied.

Most service has been quick. Water heater went out. It's coming from AHS and it hasn't been ordered yet. 2 weeks with no hot water and no eta on when they'll get my new water heater here.
Within a year of owning my home the dishwasher started leaking, and thankfully we had American Home Shield to fall back on. After contacting them, they help with selecting a company to visit my house to look at the dishwasher and determine the leak source. Within a few days they had everything done, for a small out of pocket expense. The entire process was much easier than I would have expected.
