I have been going to Archer Veterinary Clinic for over 10 years now with all of our dogs. Dr. Johnson, the owner of the clinic, is extremely caring and goes out of his way to help all animals. We currently see Dr. Marion who is equally wonderful!! Dr. Marion takes a personal interest in our dogs and ALWAYS finds time to go the extra mile. He has laughed with us and cried with us as well, when our beloved dog was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He made arrangements for us to take our OES to U of I as they currently, had a c... read more
I had an appointment on Aug. 12th with Dr. Huzinga for a dental cleaning for my dog. I checked this place out before making my appointment; having actually driven to the facility to check out the staff and facilities. My dogs dental cleaning went very well and I was call a couple of times through the day, being given the status of my dogs condition. I picked him up later that afternoon and he was tired but otherwise in great condition. Within 6 hours, he was back to normal; eating his food and playing like nothing happene... read more
I I visited the clinic on 8/4/13 with my mother's very old cat. The veterinarian was very patient and thorough with the examination and determined that the cat had one last tooth which was in very bad condition and needed to come out. The vet performed the extraction immediately with very tender care. I was given some pain medication and antibiotics and very good instructions for caring for the aging animal. I found the veterinarian and clinic staff to be very caring and helpful. My children have taken their cats to this... read more
We have been with Dr. Johnson since our dog was 6 months old, and he is going on 14, and now has Cushings. He also saw us through a very sick cat, and gave us great comfort when we had to put him to sleep. I also came in with a stray kitten just a few days away from dying, and he charged us only $60.00 for meds, saved this little cat, and this little cat is thriving and is 2! We highly recommend Archer Vet to anyone looking fair prices, and caring vets.
I need to prelude the review by saying it's based on only one visit (since I'm a new customer), but the attention to detail and the relaxed atmosphere in the exam room was not only noticeable, but appreciated. I'd been referred to Dr. Johnson by a friend of a friend who has two dogs of the same breed as mine (Bernese Mt.) and highly recommended him as being quite knowledgeable in the special needs they have. My guy was having some ear discomfort and a growth by a tooth, so I thought this would be a good opportunity for m... read more
This is a really great vet! Moving to the 'burbs can be very overwhelming, especially when you are trying to find new doctors, dentists, and a vet. The building seems a bit old, but no point to having something fancy when there is so much animal traffic. Everyone was really nice. They were able to see my cat right away (called at 10:30 a.m. and they got us in by 1:30 p.m.), The Dr. seemed very competent (granted my cat was only in for his annual checkup). They said they would send me some reading materials in the mail and I ... read more
This is a great vet. My family has been taking their dogs here for years, so naturally, when I got my very own pup, I started taking her there. I now live way on the Northside of the city, and still drive all the way down to Archer Veterinary Clinic for my vet visits for two main reasons: 1) the staff here is exceptional; they are helpful and patient with my crazed (and partially insane) dog, and 2) the cost-savings vs taking her to a city vet are insane. I would highly recommend this place!
When I first moved from Chicago to the burbs I didn't know anyone to ask for a referral to a new vet. On my commute into the city I often drove past Archer Vet's cute office but couldn't find any reviews of them online so I wasn't quite sure this is where I wanted to take my kids. After further research I actually came across a job ad that was placed to fill a new vet position. The owner stated he didn't believe in trying to sell additional products to their clients but just wanted to provide good care. Thought this was awes... read more
Something ghastly changed with the clinic. They went from being extremely accommodating to being very difficult. Their vet techs have an attitude. The prices given are not the prices when you check out. The add things and have excuses of why the bill went up. Completely unacceptable. We will not be back!
